What to do if you have tinnitus after swimming? Here are some tips to relieve tinnitus

In the hot summer, swimming is one of people's favorite ways to escape the heat and keep fit. However, some people experience tinnitus after swimming. What is going on? This is mostly caused by water getting into the ears while swimming. To treat tinnitus, you need to remove the moisture from the ears.

1: Causes of tinnitus after swimming

1: If you choke on water while swimming, the dirty water can enter the middle ear cavity through the "nose-nasopharynx-middle ear passage", or directly cause otitis media due to external otitis. Otitis media can cause severe ear pain, even fever and general discomfort. Children often have gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. If you suffer from otitis media, you should treat it actively and thoroughly. Because otitis media recurs repeatedly, it can cause long-term pus discharge from the ear canal and aggravate hearing loss. If it does not heal for many years, it may be life-threatening.

2: What to do if you have tinnitus after swimming

1: Single-leg jumping method: Point the affected ear downward and use the gravity of the water to make the water flow downward and out of the external auditory canal.

2: Mobilize the external auditory canal: continuously press the tragus with your palm or pull the auricle with your fingers; or repeatedly open your mouth and move the temporomandibular joint, which can make the skin of the external auditory canal move up and down and left and right or change the stability and pressure of the water barrier, so that the water flows out of the external auditory canal.

3: External auditory canal cleaning method: Use a clean, thin cotton swab to gently probe into the external auditory canal, and once it touches the water barrier, you can suck out the water. Never pick your ears with your hands to avoid tearing the ear canal and causing infection.

4: If the ear is inflamed due to water entering the ear, you can use some ear drops to treat it, or you can take some antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs. It is recommended to clean it with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and then use ofloxacin ear drops to treat it. It is recommended that you go to the ENT department for examination and follow the doctor's advice for treatment.

5: Absorb water with your palms. Tilt the ear with water in it downward, press the auricle with the palm of your hand on the same side, hold your breath, and then quickly release your palm. Repeat several times and the water will be sucked out.

3: After water enters the ear, follow the above steps

Methods should be used to treat it to avoid diseases such as otitis media. In daily life, try to avoid water entering the ears.
