How to treat parotid gland tumors?

We all know that tumors can cause great harm to people's health because the pathogenic cells of tumors will devour normal cells in the human body and destroy the human immune system. Tumors can be divided into benign tumors and malignant tumors. There are different treatments for different tumors, so how should parotid gland tumors be treated?

1. Treatment of parotid gland tumors

1: Surgical treatment is the main treatment for parotid gland malignant tumors, and the scope of surgical resection should be determined based on the size of the lesion, pathological type, and degree of malignancy. Low-grade malignancy (well-differentiated type) only requires local extended resection surgery, while high-grade malignancy (poorly differentiated type) should be given adjuvant radiotherapy, systemic preventive chemotherapy and immunotherapy after local extended resection.

2: Surgical method: There are two methods: one is to separate the parotid duct from front to back first, and the other is to dissect the facial nerve trunk from back to front first. The anterior method is applicable to mixed tumors located under the ear, and the posterior method is applicable to mixed tumors in the anterior part of the parotid gland.

2. Precautions for surgery

1: Due to the incomplete tumor capsule and invasive growth, it is often difficult to determine its boundaries. Therefore, during the first surgery, normal tissue should be extensively removed at a distance of more than 1 cm from the tumor, which will be an important measure to improve long-term efficacy. If the resection is not complete and thorough, the tumor is prone to recurrence, and even repeated surgery often cannot achieve satisfactory results.

2: During surgery, be careful not to cut through the tumor capsule, otherwise the tumor tissue will overflow and easily cause implantation recurrence.

3: If frozen section examination is required during surgery, the tissue should be removed and sent for examination only after the tumor is completely removed. When sending tissue for examination, attention should be paid to the presence of cancer cells in the border tissue to determine whether the resection range is completely and thoroughly clean.

4: When separating the facial nerve, it should be separated gradually along its direction on the superficial surface. Avoid separating it on the deep surface and be careful not to damage the facial nerve sheath.

5: In case of bleeding, apply pressure with saline gauze to stop the bleeding, or wipe the blood gently. It is strictly forbidden to use forceful friction to stop the bleeding or clamp the bleeding.

6: When dealing with the facial nerve during surgery, it should be determined based on the relationship between the tumor and the facial nerve. The risk of recurrence should not be risked simply to preserve the facial nerve. However, an estimate should also be made based on the clinical manifestations before surgery to facilitate the operation.

3: Parotid gland tumor is familiar to many people

The causes of such diseases are complicated, and after suffering from parotid gland tumors, they must be treated in time. Otherwise, if the parotid gland tumors become serious, it will have a great impact on one's own body, and in severe cases it will also induce the occurrence of other diseases.
