Self-treatment method for facial paralysis, old Chinese medicine doctor teaches you how to treat it

In life, if we want to describe a person who often has no expression on his face, we might use the word "facial paralysis". In fact, in medicine, facial paralysis is a disease, which is a facial nerve disease. Patients with facial paralysis often have uncontrolled facial muscles, crooked eyes and crooked mouth, which has a huge impact on the patient's appearance. So how can you treat facial paralysis yourself?

1: Treatment of facial paralysis at different stages

1: When wind evil invades the meridians at the beginning, the treatment should be to dispel wind and resolve toxins. Facial paralysis mostly occurs in spring and autumn, and can be manifested by facial paralysis, tinnitus, dizziness, and inability to contract facial muscles. Some patients may also experience typical severe pain, red skin lesions, and herpes behind the ears. Facial paralysis occurs due to the invasion of wind, cold and other evil toxins, which invade the head and face, causing stagnation of Qi and blood and obstruction of the meridians. Facial paralysis occurs quickly, which is consistent with the characteristic of "wind is good at moving and changing frequently", so in the early stage of the disease, we should dispel wind and detoxify, and assist with unblocking the meridians and straightening the meridians. Choose Schizonepeta, Vitex rotundifolia, Saposhnikovia divaricata, Cistanche deserticola, Luffa, Pheretima, Centipede, White mustard, Lycopodiella cuneata, Scorpion, and Wild chrysanthemum. If accompanied by pain from herpes behind the ear, you can add Asarum, Indigo Root, Angelica Dahurica and Forsythia suspensa.

2: In the middle stage, it activates blood circulation, dredges meridians, and relieves stagnation of Qi and blood. Half a month after facial paralysis occurs, the pathogenesis often turns into qi stagnation and blood stasis, meridian obstruction, the patient's facial muscles atrophy and weakness, face numbness; the curvature of the nail fold microcirculation increases, blood viscosity increases, and some tubular lumens spasm or narrow. The tongue is dark purple with petechiae and the pulse is thready and wiry. Therefore, treatment should focus on promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, supplemented by unblocking meridians and straightening the meridians. Choose safflower, angelica, centipede, earthworm, red peony root, white mustard seed, chuanxiong, turmeric, scorpion, and peach kernel. If the symptoms of blood stasis are obvious, 16ml of Danshen injection can be added to 500ml of 5% glucose for intravenous drip, once a day, for a course of 7 days, in conjunction with the treatment to improve microcirculation and enhance the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

3: The disease has been long-term and the symptoms are both deficiency and excess. The focus is on nourishing blood and unblocking the meridians. Facial paralysis occurs for more than 2 months and is a case of deficiency of the body and excess of evil. In addition to the main symptoms of facial paralysis, the patient also has symptoms of insufficient qi and blood such as frequent fatigue, spontaneous sweating, tinnitus, and poor appetite. The treatment should focus on dredging the meridians and replenishing qi and blood. The selected ingredients include roasted yam, astragalus, coix seed, red peony root, luffa, calamus, chuanxiong, kudzu root, salvia miltiorrhiza, and white peony root. If the facial muscles are atrophied and the skin numbness is severe, add 20 grams of angelica and 6 grams of safflower; if the eyelids are unable to close, use 30 grams of astragalus and add 10 grams each of cimicifuga and codonopsis.

2: Folk remedies

1: Folk remedies are also effective in treating facial paralysis. For example, take 7 raw castor beans, shell them, crush them, and apply them on the Qianzheng point on the face. If the left side of your face is crooked, you can stick it on the Qianzheng point on the right side of your face. If the right side of your face is crooked, you can stick it on the Qianzheng point on the left side of your face.

3. Massage Therapy

1: Use your palms and a hot towel to massage the affected muscles on the maxillofacial area from bottom to top, 3 to 4 times a day, each time for 10 minutes. It can improve the blood circulation in the face of patients with facial paralysis, stimulate their paralyzed facial expression muscles, and help them recover sooner.

IV: Acupuncture

1: The commonly used main acupuncture points are Yifeng, Xiaguan, Jiache, Yangbai, etc., and the auxiliary acupoints can be Sibai, Yuyao, Dicang, Hegu, etc. Acupuncture should use weak stimulation techniques, and can adopt Dicang through the cheek car, Yangbai through the fish waist and other techniques, alternately use them every day. Acupuncture is performed once a day, with the needles retained for 20 minutes each time. Ten days of continuous treatment constitute one course of treatment. Generally, 2 to 3 courses of treatment are required. This therapy is suitable for patients with facial paralysis after the acute phase.

Five: Facial paralysis patients in the early stage of the disease

Keep warm and use cotton pads, large masks or other cotton items to protect the affected side of the face. At the same time, patients with facial paralysis should pay attention to rest, reduce going out, avoid cold, keep the indoor air fresh and warm, and wash their faces and take a bath with warm water. Patients should also practice the movements of various facial muscles in front of a mirror frequently, such as frowning, closing eyes, puffing cheeks, pouting lips, showing teeth, etc. Doing these movements regularly can maintain muscle tension and prevent muscle atrophy.
