What to do if you suffer from insomnia, chest tightness and panic? Find out the “truth” about insomnia and chest tightness!

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are more common among middle-aged and elderly people. However, many people do not know that insomnia, chest tightness and palpitations are closely related to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Middle-aged and elderly people are more prone to insomnia and often feel chest tightness and palpitations. These symptoms are mostly caused by cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. What should I do if I suffer from insomnia, chest tightness and panic?

It is understood that about 30% of the world's population has difficulty sleeping, and more than 10% suffer from chronic insomnia. As people age, their sleep structure becomes disrupted. Light sleep may be prolonged or remain unchanged, but deep sleep will be shortened, which may be a contributing factor to cardiovascular disease in many elderly people. A study in the United States found that the incidence of heart disease, hypertension, neurological, respiratory, urinary system diseases, chronic pain and gastrointestinal diseases in patients with chronic insomnia is significantly higher than that in patients without insomnia.

Although some heart diseases do not cause insomnia, patients often suffer from insomnia. This is mainly because heart disease patients often have an increased psychological burden due to their disease, which causes insomnia; on the other hand, heart disease itself can also affect sleep quality. Conditions such as sick sinus syndrome, angina pectoris, and cardiac asthma caused by left heart failure can all affect sleep.

In addition, chest tightness, palpitations, and chest pain are often caused by the hardening and blockage of the arteries that supply nutrition to the heart due to diseases such as high blood lipids and high blood pressure, resulting in obstruction or blockage of blood circulation. The occurrence of chest tightness, palpitations, and chest pain indicates that the coronary arteries that supply nutrition to the heart have been blocked by more than 50%! Hypertension and high blood lipids not only cause coronary artery vascular sclerosis, causing chest tightness, palpitations, and chest pain; they also lead to cerebral artery vascular sclerosis, causing symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and memory loss. If it is not treated actively and effectively, it will cause serious diseases such as myocardial infarction and cerebral stroke.
