Acupuncture-knife fixed-point operation and manipulation treatment of knee joint ankylosis

Acupuncture-knife fixed-point operation and manipulation treatment of knee joint ankylosis

When we talk about knee pain, the first thing we consider is often the damage to the knee joint itself: osteoarthritis, meniscus injury, ligament injury, etc. So how to treat knee ankylosis?

【Overview】

Rheumatoid arthritis of the knee, fracture, bleeding, long-term immobilization and synovectomy can all lead to internal adhesion of the knee joint and loss of active and passive movement, which is called knee ankylosis. Knee ankylosis can be divided into extension ankylosis and flexion ankylosis, among which extension type is more common.

【Clinical manifestations】

The patient's knee joint movement is limited or lost, with flexion and extension range of 0° to 10°. Unilateral joint extension ankylosis may cause lameness, the patella loses mobility, and a grinding sensation may be felt during passive joint movement; some patients may also have joint pain.

【Diagnosis basis】

1. Partial or complete loss of active and passive flexion and extension function of the knee joint.

2. Patients with a history of trauma such as knee fracture, surgery such as synovial membrane, ligament and meniscus resection, or medical history such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, etc.

3. Physical examination showed that the patella had no mobility and a grinding sensation could be felt when the knee joint moved.

Theory of treatment

Based on the theory of closed surgery in acupuncture knife medicine and the theory of dynamic balance disorder of soft tissue injury, the acupuncture knife is used to loosen the adhesion and contracture tissue and restore the mechanical balance of the knee joint to fundamentally achieve the treatment goal. Moreover, closed surgery causes less trauma and is less likely to cause re-adhesion, so it can achieve good therapeutic effects.
