What are the symptoms of spleen dampness? How to determine if you have spleen dampness?

Among the organs in the human body, the spleen likes dryness and hates dampness. If dampness invades the spleen, it will cause some digestive tract diseases. Next, let’s take a look at the symptoms of spleen dampness and spleen deficiency, how we should make timely judgments, and how to effectively regulate spleen dampness.

What are the symptoms of spleen dampness?

1. Cold and dampness

Cold-dampness obstructing the spleen refers to the accumulation of cold-dampness in the body, which obstructs the spleen yang and causes the spleen to lose its warm function, with symptoms of cold-dampness such as poor appetite, abdominal distension, loose stools, and heaviness as the main manifestations.

Symptoms include abdominal distension, greasy mouth, poor appetite, nausea, bland mouth without thirst, abdominal pain and loose stools, heaviness in the head and body, or oliguria, swollen limbs, or yellow body and eyes, dull complexion, or excessive vaginal discharge in women, pale and fat tongue, white and slippery or greasy tongue coating, and a soft and slow pulse or a deep and fine pulse.

2. Dampness and heat

Damp-heat accumulation in the spleen refers to internal accumulation of dampness and heat, with spleen dampness functioning vigorously, and a damp-heat syndrome with abdominal distension, poor appetite, fever, heaviness, and loose and uncomfortable stools as the main manifestations.

Symptoms include abdominal distension, nausea, sticky mouth, thirst without drinking much, loose stools, short yellow urine, heavy limbs, or fever without relief from sweating, bright yellow face, or itchy skin, red tongue, yellow and greasy coating, and a moist or slippery pulse.

You can also use the following methods to diagnose whether there is dampness in your body. Let’s learn about it together.

1. When you wake up, look at your feelings

If you feel particularly tired, dizzy, and lack energy when you wake up every morning, or as if you are wearing wet clothes, feel uncomfortable all over, and are too lazy to move... then you can be sure that there is dampness in your body.

2. When going to the toilet - look at the stool

After going to the bathroom in the morning, you can observe your stool. Is it stuck to the toilet? Even a tank of water can't flush it away. If it is inconvenient to observe the toilet, you can also observe the toilet paper. Normally, one or two pieces of paper are enough. If three or five pieces of paper cannot be wiped clean after repeated wiping, it also means that there is moisture in the body.

The color and shape of the stool can also help determine whether there is dampness in the body. Normal stool is golden yellow and banana-shaped, but few people have this healthy stool nowadays. When there is dampness in the body, the stool will be blue in color, loose and soft without any shape, and there will always be a feeling of incomplete excretion. Over time, the toxins produced by stool retention accumulate in the body, causing a variety of diseases.

3. When washing your mouth - look at your tongue coating

After going to the toilet, we usually start washing. Before brushing our teeth, we might as well take a few seconds to look at our tongue in the mirror. "The tongue is the sprout of the heart and the external sign of the spleen." The tongue can sensitively reflect our physical condition. A healthy tongue is pale pink and moist, with a layer of tongue coating on the surface that is thin, white and clear, with moderate dryness and wetness, and is neither slippery nor dry.
