Spleen dampness causes all kinds of diseases! To eliminate spleen dampness, you must know the "three tricks"

Spleen dampness causes all kinds of diseases! To eliminate spleen dampness, you must know the "three tricks"

According to the Yin-Yang and Five Elements theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation, is the foundation of acquired constitution, and is the source of Qi and blood production. The spleen is opposite to the stomach. The spleen belongs to Yin Earth, likes dryness and hates dampness. So since the spleen is so important, how do we get rid of dampness?

1. Poria, Barley and Chinese Yam Porridge

China has always emphasized that medicine and food have the same origin. For patients with spleen dampness, there is a porridge that is absolutely worth recommending - Poria cocos, barley and yam porridge. Poria is mild in nature and sweet in taste. It can dissipate dampness and promote diuresis, strengthen the spleen and stomach, and calm the mind and nerves. Coix seed is sweet in nature and slightly cold. It can strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, promote diuresis and reduce swelling, clear away heat and discharge pus, and can also help maintain a delicate and shiny skin. Chinese yam is sweet in taste and mild in nature. It can strengthen the spleen and stomach and aid digestion. It is a medicinal food that can nourish the spleen and stomach.

Poria, coix seed and yam porridge not only removes spleen dampness, but also nourishes the spleen and stomach. People with spleen and stomach disharmony can try it.

2. Moxibustion on Zusanli

To remove spleen dampness, acupoint stimulation is also a very good method, such as the Zusanli acupoint. Zusanli is the first important acupoint for treating spleen and stomach diseases. It is located on the outer side of the calf, three inches below the knee depression (place the thumb on the knee depression, four fingers width below the tip of the ring finger). There is a strong feeling of soreness and swelling when pressing it. Stimulating Zusanli has a good effect on abdominal distension, abdominal pain, indigestion, diarrhea, dysentery, insomnia, edema, etc. caused by spleen dampness. To stimulate the Zusanli point, it is appropriate to use moxibustion. Moxibustion for 15-30 minutes before going to bed can effectively help remove spleen dampness, harmonize the spleen and stomach, and enhance immunity.

3. Selection of Chinese patent medicine

Spleen dampness can be divided into two types: cold dampness and damp-heat. Generally speaking, the tongue is pale white, moist and plump with lots of fluid. Common symptoms include abdominal distension, nausea, heaviness in the head and body, swollen limbs, short urine, and excessive vaginal discharge in women. In case of dampness and heat, the tongue is red with a greasy yellow coating. Common symptoms include abdominal distension, nausea, sticky mouth, thirst without drinking much, yellow complexion, short yellow urine, and loose and uncomfortable stools.

For cold and dampness in the spleen, you can use Fuzi Lizhong Pills, which have the effect of warming the middle and strengthening the spleen, and have therapeutic effects on spleen and stomach deficiency and cold, abdominal pain, abdominal coldness, vomiting and diarrhea, cold hands and feet, etc. It should be noted that people with cold and fever should not take it.

Spleen dampness and heat can be treated with Huoxiang Zhengqi Water, which has the effects of dispelling dampness, regulating Qi and harmonizing the middle, and removing dampness and heat. In addition, Gegenqinlian Decoction can be used with modifications to eliminate dampness and clear heat. For diarrhea or jaundice caused by damp heat, Yinchen and Wuling San can be used with modifications.
