Be alert to these complications of cervical spondylosis!

If you suffer from spinal disease and do not receive timely treatment, it will easily cause a series of complications, such as cervical hypertension, esophageal stenosis, basilar artery blood supply disorder, etc. If the situation is serious, vision may be affected to a certain extent.

1. Cervical heart syndrome is caused by the stimulation and compression of the cervical dorsal nerve roots by cervical bone spurs, which is mainly manifested by precordial pain, chest tightness, arrhythmia (such as cardiac arrest, etc.) and ST segment changes in the electrocardiogram.

2. It can cause blood pressure to rise or fall, among which the increase in blood pressure is more common, which is called "cervical hypertension.

3. Esophageal stenosis may be caused by direct compression of the posterior wall of the esophagus by the front edge of the cervical spine. It may also be caused by swallowing difficulties due to the rapid formation of bone spurs, which stimulates the soft tissue around the esophagus. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, hoarseness, dry cough, chest tightness, etc.

4. Cervical spondylosis causes autonomic nervous system disorders and insufficient blood supply to the vertebral-basilar artery, which leads to ischemic lesions in the occipital visual center of the brain, causing visual impairment, manifested as decreased vision, etc. In severe cases, it can cause blindness.

5. Due to the hyperplastic changes of the cervical vertebrae compressing the vertebral artery, the basilar artery blood supply is obstructed, resulting in temporary cerebral ischemia, which can cause cataplexy.

6. Due to the stimulation or compression of the vertebral lateral bundle by the cervical spurs, the movement and sensory disorders of the lower limbs may lead to paralysis of the lower limbs.

The above is an introduction to the complications that cervical spondylosis may cause. I believe it will be helpful for patients to understand the complications of cervical spondylosis. If you still have questions, you can consult relevant experts who will give you more detailed answers.
