Varicose veins in the lower leg: five aspects to pay attention to in treatment

Varicose veins in the lower leg: five aspects to pay attention to in treatment

There are many types of varicose veins, among which calf varicose veins are the most common. If this happens, we can alleviate the symptoms of the disease by changing our lifestyle habits, or we can choose surgical treatment.

1. In terms of exercise, gentle exercises such as walking, swimming, and cycling can not only improve circulation, but also reduce the rate of new varicose veins.

2. In terms of diet , you should eat more high-fiber, low-fat foods and increase the supplementation of vitamins C and E.

3. In daily life , you should control your weight, avoid taking birth control pills, avoid wearing tight clothes and high heels, avoid crossing your legs, and avoid sitting or standing for long periods of time.

4. Regular calf flexion and extension exercises can mobilize the calf muscle pump, increase the flow rate of venous blood, promote the return of venous blood in the lower limbs, and reduce the pressure on the calf veins.

5. Lie on your back in bed, raise your lower limbs, and flex and extend your legs alternately, like riding a bicycle. After the uterus becomes enlarged, when it is inconvenient to lie on your back, you can lie on your side, move one lower limb, then turn over and lie on the other side and move the other lower limb. This can reduce the pressure in the lower limb veins, facilitate the return of the lower limb veins, and allow the venous valves to get proper rest.

Clinical surveys show that 10% of patients with varicose veins are engaged in occupations that require frequent walking; 30% are engaged in occupations that require frequent sitting; and 60% are engaged in standing and physical work. Relevant experts also told us that a large proportion of patients who come for treatment are teachers, doctors, nurses, hairdressers, salesgirls, chefs, restaurant waiters and other occupations that require long periods of standing. However, recently more and more white-collar workers in companies have also begun to suffer from varicose veins. Therefore, people who stand or sit for a long time are at high risk of varicose veins! Therefore, the above groups of people should focus on prevention in their daily lives. Mastering some prevention methods and techniques can avoid the occurrence of varicose veins in the lower legs to a certain extent.
