Liver pain is quite common in bed. This symptom is closely related to some liver diseases. The symptoms of liver pain mainly include tingling and obvious pain in the liver area. If this happens, you should seek medical attention and treatment early to prevent the condition from getting worse. 1. Stinging Patients with liver disease often feel a needle-like pain in the liver area, or a heavy pain hanging there, which comes and goes and is usually tolerable. It is more obvious when they are angry, tired, or active, and can be relieved by bed rest, but is aggravated when lying on the right side. The liver is located in the right upper abdomen (liver area) and cannot be felt under the ribs. When the liver is diseased, it swells and even exceeds the lower edge of the right ribs. 2. Upper abdominal pain Most people with liver disease will feel pain in the liver area. This pain is pain or tenderness in the right upper abdomen. But this type of pain is rarely caused by chronic liver disease. Right upper abdominal pain or tenderness usually occurs in the acute stage of liver disease, such as acute viral hepatitis. It also occasionally occurs during a flare-up of chronic liver disease, but such flare-ups are uncommon. The pain is mostly caused by acute inflammation, stress, and swelling of the liver's surface; otherwise, the liver is rarely tender. If your liver always hurts in one place, you must consider other causes. For example, it could be gallstones, which are associated with many liver diseases, or it could be liver cancer. 3. Others Symptoms of pain in the liver area may manifest as persistent distension or dull pain, which worsens with activity, and may cause pulling pain when walking, coughing, talking or laughing. The pain is lighter in the early morning and heavier in the afternoon and at night. The pain is relieved by lying in bed, but worsens when lying on the right side. Some symptoms of pain in the liver area include needle-like pain in the liver area, or a heavy feeling as if something is hanging there, which comes and goes but is usually bearable. It is more obvious when you are angry, tired, or active. |
