Skin itching, beware of these 9 diseases

Skin itching is a common symptom among friends with skin diseases. About 90% of skin disease patients will feel skin itching. Some systemic diseases and local infectious diseases can also cause skin itching in patients.

1. Neurodermatitis

Neurodermatitis is a common chronic skin disease characterized by obvious skin wrinkles and severe itching.

Cause of disease: The onset of neurodermatitis is obviously related to neurological and mental factors. According to clinical observations, most patients have symptoms of neurasthenia such as dizziness, insomnia, irritability, anxiety, etc. Some patients develop the disease after suffering from long-term indigestion or constipation. Local stimulation by wool fabrics or chemical substances may also cause itching and constant scratching, which may lead to the occurrence of the disease.

2. Scabies

Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by scabies.

It manifests as severe itching all over the body, sometimes with skin lesions, and is easily misdiagnosed as pruritus. Scabies is highly contagious through contact and spreads rapidly, often causing family and group infections. It should also be noted that animal scabies that parasitize on cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, dogs, lizards, camels, etc. can also be transmitted to humans.

Cause of disease: Scabies is mainly caused by scabies. Scabies not only live on humans, but also on shirts, pants, sheets, pillowcases, and bedding. When a normal person has direct and close contact with a sick person, such as lying in the same bed or shaking hands with each other, they may become sick. A few cases can also be transmitted indirectly, such as using beds, clothes, towels, etc. used by patients. Sick animals can also infect humans and cause illness.

3. Tinea pedis

Tinea pedis is a common skin disease caused by superficial fungal infection.

The main symptom is itching of the hands and feet, and it is highly contagious and can be transmitted to oneself or others.

Cause of the disease: Tinea manuum is mostly transmitted from tinea pedis, which may be related to frequent scratching of the feet with hands. People know that most people who suffer from tinea manuum also have tinea pedis. The onset of foot arthritis is mainly due to excessive sweating and unclean feet that are prone to infection. For example, wearing rubber shoes in summer makes foot sweat difficult to evaporate; the south is humid and warm; going to contaminated public baths and swimming pools for exercise can easily cause tinea pedis or cause it to recur or worsen. In addition, a small number of patients take corticosteroids, antibiotics, and immunosuppressive drugs for a long time, which causes dysbiosis and immune dysfunction, and is also conducive to the growth and reproduction of fungi.

4. Urticaria

This disease is a common skin and mucous membrane allergic disease, characterized by severe itching of the skin and a transient localized edematous rash. According to statistics, 15% to 20% of people will have at least one attack of urticaria in their lifetime.

Cause of disease: The cause of this disease is complex, and many people cannot find the cause after the onset of the disease, especially chronic urticaria. Common causes can be summarized as: ① Food, eating animal protein foods such as fish, shrimp, crab, meat, eggs, milk (or spoiled), etc.; plant foods such as mushrooms, strawberries, tomatoes, walnuts, etc. D② Drugs, such as penicillin, analgin, furazolidone, sulfonamide, insulin, heparin, serum, vaccines, aspirin, morphine, vitamin B12, etc.

5. Eczema

This disease is a skin inflammatory reaction with a significant tendency to exudation caused by a variety of internal and external factors. The rash is diverse. It is an itchy skin disease characterized by skin infiltration and hypertrophy in the chronic stage.

Cause of disease: The cause of eczema is very complex. Generally, people with allergic constitution will develop the disease due to the interaction of internal and external factors. External causes, such as sun exposure, cold, fever, dryness, sweating, scratching, friction, various animal fur, plants, chemicals, and some daily necessities such as cosmetics and soap can induce eczema; internal causes, such as infectious lesions in the body, gastrointestinal digestive dysfunction, mental stress, insomnia, excessive fatigue, etc.

6. Contact dermatitis

This disease refers to an inflammatory reaction at the contact site of the skin and mucous membranes when they come into contact with external substances, accompanied by skin itching. Contact dermatitis is a frequently occurring and common disease. Since its onset is often caused by contact with external irritants, its prevention is of great significance. If the cause can be eliminated early and correct treatment is given, mild cases can heal themselves without medication, and severe cases will not develop into eczema-like changes and can be cured in a short period of time.

Cause of disease: Contact dermatitis is often related to contact of skin and mucous membranes with the following substances, and the main occurrence is skin allergic reaction.

7. Papular urticaria

This disease is more common in infants and children, and often several children in the same family are affected at the same time. In addition to skin lesions, it is accompanied by severe skin itching, which is most common in spring, summer and autumn.

Cause of disease: The occurrence of this disease is related to insect bites. It is an allergic reaction after being bitten by fleas, leeches, bedbugs, lice, mosquitoes, dog scabies, etc. In urban families with pets, children are prone to being bitten by fleas and dog scabies on animals and becoming ill.

8. Dermatitis herpetiformis

The disease may be related to sensitization to gluten (also known as wheat limb, commonly known as gluten), which causes damage to the skin and small intestinal mucosa. Itching is usually the earliest symptom of the disease.

Cause of disease: The cause of this disease is still unknown. The onset may be related to individual genetic predisposition. It is an immune disease caused by gluten-limb sensitization.

9. Prurigo nodularis

This disease is a chronic and rare skin disease characterized by severe itching and nodules on the skin, and is more common in adult women.

Cause of disease: It is still unclear. Some patients develop the disease after being bitten by mosquitoes, bedbugs or other insects. Gastrointestinal dysfunction and endocrine disorders may also be related.
