When can cerebral palsy be diagnosed?

When can cerebral palsy be diagnosed?

In fact, when it comes to the treatment of cerebral palsy, early detection and early treatment measures should be taken, especially after the baby is born, you should pay attention to observe his some movements. The most critical time to detect cerebral palsy in a child is within one year old.

1. Early detection of cerebral palsy in children is very beneficial to the treatment of children, because cerebral palsy is a non-progressive motor dysfunction caused by infection before, during or after birth. Severe cases are accompanied by mental retardation, convulsions, hearing and visual disorders, and abnormal behavior. Early detection and early treatment are of great help to cerebral palsy patients in their future self-care.

2. The first month after birth: If the baby's lower limbs are stiff when lying on their back, passive flexion and abduction are difficult, the head and neck are straight, the shoulders and arms are retracted, and the arms are abducted... These are reminders for parents to pay attention to cerebral palsy. Most cerebral palsy babies do not show signs of spasticity in the neonatal period, but mostly have varying degrees of hypotonia.

3. After 3 months: If the child makes a fist with both hands and the thumbs are clenched in the palms, one hand can be opened while the other hand is clenched, and it is difficult to raise the head when lying prone, these can all indicate the presence of cerebral palsy. The first 6 months is the most difficult period to recognize cerebral palsy. If there are signs, you should quickly see a specialist for examination. After 7 or 8 months: Cannot crawl or sit, which is the most common symptom of children with cerebral palsy.

4. The key to discovering cerebral palsy in children is within one year old. If a child often uses one hand to pick up things and shows asymmetric autonomous movements at the age of one year, this indicates cerebral palsy.
