Three common methods of treating muscle atrophy with traditional Chinese medicine

Common muscle atrophy includes atrophy of the facial and calf muscles. Muscle atrophy will make patients feel inferior and painful. Everyone should have a good attitude to face this disease. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment is very effective. Rehabilitation training, psychological therapy, and exercise therapy should be done well in daily life.

1. Treatment of muscular atrophy:

1. Weak spleen and stomach: The spleen is the foundation of acquired constitution, the source of Qi and blood production, responsible for transporting and transforming water and grain, regulating blood, and controlling muscles and limbs. If the spleen and stomach are weak, they cannot transport and transform, the source of Qi and blood production is insufficient, and muscles are malnourished and become paralyzed. Symptoms of muscular atrophy include weak limbs, muscle withering and emaciation, accompanied by fatigue, poor appetite, loose stools, pale complexion, thin white tongue coating, and thin pulse. The Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment for muscular atrophy is to strengthen the spleen and produce blood, and to replenish Qi and produce muscles.

2. Deficiency of liver and kidney: The liver stores blood and controls tendons, while the kidney stores essence and controls bones. Deficiency of liver and kidney will lead to insufficient essence and blood, and the tendons, bones and meridians will lose nourishment and become atrophy. Symptoms of muscular atrophy include: weakness and flaccidity in the lower limbs, inability to stand for long periods of time, and soreness in the waist and spine. Loss of sensation or loss of pain on one or both sides. It is accompanied by dizziness, tinnitus, spermatorrhea, enuresis or irregular menstruation, red tongue with little coating, and thin and rapid pulse. The TCM treatment for muscular atrophy is to nourish the liver and kidneys, nourish yin and clear the lungs.

3. Blood deficiency and blood stasis: Blood deficiency will cause the limbs to be malnourished, while blood stasis will block the blood vessels and cause paralysis. The symptoms of muscular atrophy include: weak limbs, numbness of hands and feet, dull complexion or purple lips, ecchymosis under the tongue, exposed blue veins in the limbs, and weak and sluggish pulse. The traditional Chinese medicine treatment for muscular atrophy is to nourish the marrow and blood, and remove blood stasis and dredge the meridians.

2. How to conduct rehabilitation training for muscle atrophy

1. Exercise therapy.

If patients with muscular atrophy want to alleviate premature joint deformities, they should first pay attention to physical exercise and avoid forced functional exercise, because forced functional exercise will cause excessive fatigue of skeletal muscles, which is not conducive to the recovery of skeletal muscle function, regeneration and repair of muscle cells, and is not conducive to treatment.

2. Psychotherapy.

When treating muscle atrophy, one should also maintain an optimistic attitude and a cheerful mood, which will help to assist in the treatment of muscle atrophy. However, strong long-term or repeated mental tension, pessimism and other emotional changes can affect the excitation and inhibition regulation of the cerebral cortex, aggravate muscle twitching and cause muscle atrophy to develop. Therefore, psychological treatment of patients is very important.

3. Avoid infection

Patients should also avoid infection. It is very important to provide good care for muscular atrophy. Generally, patients have poor resistance, so they should avoid infection, colds, and flu. Colds and other diseases can aggravate the symptoms of muscular atrophy in patients.
