What causes difficulty breathing and coughing? The reasons are so complicated!

When you find yourself having difficulty breathing and accompanied by coughing, you need to look for the cause based on your own situation. Sometimes the cause is very obvious and it is easier to solve. But many times the symptoms occur inexplicably and ordinary people have no idea what is going on. At this time, it is necessary to go to the hospital for examination. The following are the most common causes of this symptom.

1. Pulmonary dyspnea is caused by respiratory organ lesions and is mainly manifested in the following three forms:

(1) Inspiratory dyspnea: manifested by wheezing and depression of the sternum, supraclavicular fossa, and intercostal spaces during inspiration - the three-depression sign. It is common in laryngeal and tracheal stenosis, such as inflammation, edema, foreign bodies and tumors.

(2) Expiratory dyspnea: prolonged expiratory phase accompanied by wheezing, seen in bronchial asthma and obstructive pulmonary disease.

(3) Mixed dyspnea: seen in pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, large pleural effusion, pneumothorax, etc.

2. Cardiogenic dyspnea is common in cardiogenic pulmonary edema caused by left ventricular failure. Its clinical characteristics are:

(1) The patient has a history of severe heart disease.

(2) It is mixed dyspnea, which is more obvious when lying down and at night.

(3) Medium and small wet gong sounds may be heard at the bottom of the lungs and vary with body position.

(4) X-ray examination: abnormal changes in the cardiac shadow. Congestion in and around the hilum of the lung or signs of pulmonary edema.

3. What should I check if I have difficulty breathing?

The editor recommends that everyone should go to a regular hospital for examination and treatment in time if they experience breathing difficulties. The causes of breathing difficulties are different, so the examination methods are also different depending on the causes. as follows:

1. X-ray examination shows obvious cardiopulmonary X-ray signs for dyspnea caused by cardiopulmonary diseases.

2. Bronchography is used to diagnose bronchiectasis, bronchial adenoma and carcinoma.

3. Patients with heart disease can undergo electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and other examinations.

4. Perform pulmonary function tests on chronic lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma to diagnose the nature and extent of lung function damage.

When patients experience symptoms such as tracheal tightness, difficulty breathing and coughing, it is usually caused by disease. You can go to the hospital for relevant detailed tests, and after the disease is diagnosed, you can receive relevant treatment.
