Can I eat fish if I have high uric acid?

High uric acid is a common disease. There are many reasons for high uric acid. It is caused by certain factors in the body. Patients with high uric acid should receive timely treatment. At the same time, they should also pay attention to their diet and try not to eat high-purine foods. Fish is a food with relatively rich nutritional value, but it is not suitable for people with high uric acid.

People with high uric acid should not eat fish. They should drink more water and eat less high-purine foods such as fish and shrimp. River fish is also not suitable for eating because fish contains a higher content of purine, which is very effective for acute attacks of gout. Therefore, they should not eat fish and eat less seafood and animal offal.

What should not be eaten if uric acid is high

Animal offal: such as pancreas, liver, kidney, bone marrow, and large intestine (high in purine). Vegetables: spinach, radish, etc. Special note: Because spinach and other plants are rich in oxalic acid, they can easily lead to an exponential increase in hyperoxaluria, causing a rapid increase in uric acid and increasing the burden on the kidneys.

Seafood, shellfish, etc.:

Special note: The reason why you cannot eat seafood, shellfish, green algae, such as lobster, crab, oysters, etc.: Because these foods are rich in polysaccharides, high protein, etc., these will increase the burden of kidney decomposition and increase uric acid, so they should not be eaten too much.

However, some of these foods are rich in astaxanthin, the most powerful antioxidant in nature, which can reduce the source of uric acid by 80%. The best way to "discard the dross and retain the essence" is for gout patients to supplement astaxanthin with pure products, rather than "eating puffer fish at all costs" to supplement astaxanthin.

Protein can be consumed in proportion according to body weight. 0.8 to 1 gram of protein should be consumed for 1 kilogram of body weight, and milk and eggs should be the main sources. If it is lean meat, chicken, duck, etc., it should be boiled and then eaten without soup. Avoid eating stewed or braised meat.

Eat less fat, because fat can reduce the excretion of uric acid. For patients with gout and hyperlipidemia, fat intake should be controlled within 20 to 25% of total calories.
