What should I do if I have diarrhea and bloody stool?

If you often have diarrhea and bloody stools, it means that your stools become thinner, that is, the stools are mixed with blood that can be seen with the naked eye. In this case, you should consider gastrointestinal diseases, or anal fissures and other problems. After examination, symptomatic treatment is usually provided, usually surgery or medication.

What to do if there is heavy bleeding? The so-called "bleeding in stool" means that there is blood mixed in the stool that is visible to the naked eye. In severe cases, the stool looks almost entirely blood, which is collectively referred to as "blood in stool." So when heavy bleeding occurs, you don’t know what to do? The color of blood in the stool may vary depending on the location of the gastrointestinal bleeding, the amount of bleeding, and the length of time the blood stays in the intestines.

Generally speaking, the lower the bleeding site, the greater the amount of bleeding, and the shorter the time it stays in the digestive tract, the brighter the color of the blood in the stool will be. Therefore, carefully observing the color and properties of blood in the stool will help analyze the location of bleeding, the type and nature of the disease.

For the treatment of anal fissures caused by bleeding in the stool, you can take painkillers and apply ointments to make the wound heal faster. It means that if it is found that the opening and closing of the anus is affected by muscle problems, it will be impossible to control whether it will open and close automatically. Therefore, surgery is needed to cut a part of the internal sphincter so that the anus will no longer open and close automatically without control.

Rectal cancer: If it is confirmed to be rectal cancer, the patient can choose to undergo surgery to remove the problematic intestine, or use laparoscopy to make a small incision in the abdomen to remove the tissue. However, if the tumor is located too low, in the lower half of the rectum, the anus must also be removed and an artificial anus must be used to aid excretion. In addition, to treat polyps, endoscopic surgery is also needed to remove the polyps.

Hemorrhoids. To treat bleeding in stool caused by hemorrhoids, in mild cases, medication can be used to stop bleeding and reduce swelling. In addition, hemorrhoid injections can be given to strengthen the internal hemorrhoid tissue. The internal hemorrhoid tissue can also be ligated to cause the fragile part to fall off due to lack of blood circulation.
