Can conjunctival edema be cured?

Conjunctival edema is a manifestation of conjunctivitis, which mainly refers to the phenomenon of edema of the conjunctiva due to bacteria. It often leads to edema and redness of the eyes. The main cause of this is bacterial infection. In addition, excessive use of the eyes and bad living habits may also cause this phenomenon. At that time, you can use symptomatic eye drops for treatment under the guidance of a doctor, and also strengthen prevention.

Treatment should first find the cause and eliminate the pathogenic factors

Then appropriate treatment is given according to the different causes of the disease. For those caused by bacteria, give appropriate antibiotic eye drops and eye ointments, and add an appropriate amount of astringent eye drops. For non-bacterial cases, after finding the cause and eliminating it, apply 0.25% to 0.5% zinc sulfate eye drops or appropriate amounts of corticosteroid eye drops topically.

Prevention points:

Get into the habit of washing your hands with warm water and soap; do not share eye drops or eye ointment with others; when your eyes are red and swollen, you should not wear contact lenses or apply eye makeup. If you find an eye infection, seek medical help. Use paper towels or disposable towels.

[This disease has a high incidence rate and is a chronic eye disease. Medication can relieve symptoms, but it may relapse and has no effect on vision. The patient has dry eyes and severe symptoms, but the signs are mild or not obvious. In order to eliminate the cause, it is necessary to wear protective glasses when working outdoors, avoid excessive smoking and drinking, get enough sleep, develop good living habits, and treat various other external eye diseases in a timely manner. For those who have not been cured for a long time, the cause should be thoroughly investigated.

Differential Diagnosis

1. Differentiation from acute iridocyclitis

Decreased vision is accompanied by obvious photophobia, tearing, and pain, which may radiate to the eyebrow arches, temporal region, and forehead.

2. Differentiation from acute conjunctivitis

The eyelids are red and swollen, the conjunctiva is congested, and the secretions are mostly bacterial, mucous or purulent. When I woke up in the morning, my eyes were closed with secretions. The secretions of viral infections are mostly watery and may be accompanied by corneal lesions, enlargement and tenderness of the preauricular and submandibular lymph nodes.

3. Differentiation from keratitis

Keratitis caused by different causes has its own characteristics, but the basic signs are blepharospasm and edema, obvious conjunctival congestion, mixed congestion and edema of the bulbar conjunctiva, corneal opacity or ulceration, visible sediment behind the cornea, and pus in the anterior chamber.
