What is the difference between eczema in infants and vernix

What is the difference between eczema in infants and vernix

The so-called baby vernix refers to a layer of oil attached to the skin surface of the baby after birth. This is also called vernix. If that kind of vernix appears, it should be disinfected and cleaned in time, because it may cause adverse irritation and impact on the baby's skin, and even cause eczema. Therefore, eczema and vernix are different. Vernix is brought by the fetus at birth, while eczema is a skin disease caused by adverse irritation to the skin.

How to deal with the baby's head of the baby's dirt?

What is vernix? When a baby is just born, there is a layer of oil on the surface of the skin. It is a yellow-white substance formed by the secretions of the skin and epithelial cells, called vernix. This is because the baby does not wash his hair after birth. Over time, the seborrheic secretions of the scalp and dust gather together to form vernix.

Solution: Parents can wipe the area with sterilized vegetable oil, or apply ointment on the baby's scalp, and then apply soaked gauze on the head. Don't move it on the first day. On the second day, comb your hair gently with a small comb, or wipe it gently with gauze, and the scab will fall off. Then you can treat it with baby shampoo and warm water. Remember not to comb hard with a comb, as this can easily break the baby's scalp and cause infection. If the placenta is very thick, repeat the above steps 2 to 3 times. Old people usually believe that placenta should not be removed, otherwise it is easy to get sick. In fact, there is no scientific basis for this.

Six key points for caring for baby eczema

1. Try to find and avoid contact with allergens. First, observe whether the child is allergic to food, especially animal protein such as milk, breast milk or egg white; observe whether the baby's eczema will worsen after the mother eats fish, shrimp, crab and other animal foods while breastfeeding. If so, try to avoid eating these foods.

2. Avoid contact with irritating substances, do not use alkaline soap to wash the skin, do not use various cosmetics or perfumes, do not wash the affected area with overly hot water, and do not bathe too frequently.

3. The room temperature should not be too high. When going out, do not expose the area with eczema to direct sunlight, otherwise it will aggravate the itching of eczema. Change your baby's clothes frequently. The clothes should be loose and not too thick or tight. Clothes made of fine cotton are best.

4. Keep the room well ventilated, clean and hygienic to avoid dust that irritates the skin.

5. The treatment of infant eczema should be under the guidance of a dermatologist. Parents must not abuse antibiotics or use single prescriptions or folk remedies at will. Drugs such as chlorpheniramine and calcium gluconate can be taken orally to reduce skin allergies.

6. Do not get BCG or other preventive vaccinations during the onset of eczema, and avoid contact with patients with herpes simplex to prevent herpetic eczema.
