The fruit is a berry, green when raw, then red, and dark red when ripe.

Morphological characteristics of Millettia spatholobi:

An evergreen woody vine, glabrous, with new branches dark green and several triangular bud scales persistent at the base. The stem is dark purple-green with grayish-white lenticels, the taproot is yellowish-brown, and the cross section is dark purple. The leaves are papery, elliptical or ovate-elliptical, 6-13 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, with abruptly narrowed, short, acute or acuminate apex, broadly cuneate or obtuse base, entire margin or with sparse callose teeth, 7-10 lateral veins on each side, almost the same color on both sides after drying, and densely covered with very fine white glandular dots on the underside.

Flowers are unisexual and monoecious, male flowers: tepals are creamy yellow, 14 to 18 pieces, with transparent fine glandular dots and cilia, the largest piece is in the middle whorl, ovate or elliptical, 10 to 17 mm long, 8 to 10 mm wide; receptacle is ellipsoid, with an elongated cylindrical apex, conically protruding outside the stamen group; the stamen group is ellipsoid or nearly spherical, 6 to 8 mm in diameter, with about 60 stamens.
