How to prevent meniscus injury and weak legs

After a meniscus injury, the most common symptom of the patient is usually weak legs. This symptom is quite serious. The patient will feel frequent severe pain in his joints and swelling of the joints. If the patient is in a serious condition, it will definitely affect his normal life. The range of movement when walking will be limited, and even some popping sounds will be found in his joints when flexing and extending. This requires prevention.

1. Most patients have a history of knee sprain.

2. There is a popping sound in the knee when extending and flexing the knee joint.

3. When injured, there is a tearing sensation and sound in the knee joint, that is, severe pain, joint swelling, and flexion and extension dysfunction.

Knee joint pain is most obvious when walking and going up and down stairs. Some patients may experience weakness and locking of the knees.

4. During the examination, it may be found that the quadriceps muscle is atrophied, there is tenderness in the knee joint space, and the knee joint cannot be hyperextended or hyperflexed.

5. Meniscus snapping test (McBernie's sign): The patient lies on his back with his hips and knees fully flexed. The examiner holds the foot with one hand and places the other hand on the knee. The calf is first internally rotated and adducted, then abducted and straightened. The calf is then externally rotated and abducted, then adducted and straightened. If there is pain or snapping, the test is positive. Most of the patients were positive.

6. Grinding test: The patient lies prone with the affected knee flexed 90°. The examiner presses down hard on the ankle and performs rotational grinding. It is positive if there is pain in a certain position. It may be positive in some cases.

If necessary, air angiography, iodine solution angiography or arthroscopy of the knee joint can be performed.

prevention

The meniscus is a fibrous cartilage tissue and has no blood supply itself, so it recovers very slowly after injury, making treatment very difficult. There are many ways to treat meniscus injuries. Physical therapy and massage can improve local circulation, promote nutritional supply and temporarily relieve symptoms, but they cannot fundamentally solve the problem. Surgeries with large trauma, high risks and many complications are generally not considered.

Most people in the Western medical community believe that current medicine is unable to reverse the course of meniscus injury, and patients can only use painkillers, pain-relieving injections, and injections to relieve symptoms.

Meniscus injury is the most common injury. When the lower limb is weight-bearing, the foot is fixed, and the knee is slightly flexed, the knee is suddenly excessively rotated inward or outward.

(For example, in badminton and basketball, it often happens when players are attacking or defending), it may cause a meniscus tear. Meniscus injury will cause obvious weakness when walking on flat ground, and sometimes there will be joint pain, limited movement, and popping noises during movement.

The second is knee ligament injury. The stability of the knee joint is relatively poor when it is slightly bent. If it is suddenly subjected to external force and causes eversion or inversion, it may cause injury to the medial and lateral collateral ligaments and cruciate ligaments. This causes instability in the knee joint, and I feel like I am not as brave as before in using strength with the injured leg. I obviously feel the injured leg is weak, and I feel weak when walking more often than before.
