Some people have unilateral kidney deficiency, but some people have deficiency of both Yin and Yang. Deficiency of both Yin and Yang can cause double damage to the patient's organs. They will feel weak for a long time, have a sallow face, thin muscles, hoarse voice, and will have obvious hot flashes and night sweats. These symptoms are very harmful when they occur normally, so patients need to adjust slowly to speed up the recovery of their body's Qi and blood, but they should also pay attention to precautions during adjustment. A clinical analysis is given as an example: Symptoms: shortness of breath, weakness, emaciation, sallow complexion, hoarseness, hot flashes and night sweats, bone steaming and tuberculosis, loose stools, white foamy sputum or bloody sputum, palpitations and shortness of breath, few words, poor appetite, spontaneous sweating, spermatorrhea, amenorrhea, dry and yellow tongue coating, and a thin or weak pulse. Symptom analysis shows that there is a relationship of mutual support and restraint between the internal organs. Therefore, under pathological conditions, local lesions in the lungs will inevitably affect other organs and the whole body. Therefore, there is a saying that "the evil spreads and invades the five internal organs". Pulmonary tuberculosis is most closely related to the spleen and kidneys. The spleen is the mother of the lungs. Lung deficiency will deplete the spleen energy to nourish itself, and the spleen will also be weak. The spleen deficiency cannot transform water and grain into essence and transport it to nourish the lungs, then the lung deficiency will be more serious. They are mutually causal, and eventually lead to lung and spleen diseases, with symptoms such as fatigue, poor appetite, loose stools, chills, and tiredness. The kidney is the child of the lung. When the lung is weak, the kidney loses its source of nourishment, or when the kidney is weak, the fire of the kidney burns the metal, and the son steals the mother's qi, causing the lung qi to be further exhausted and unable to nourish the kidney, eventually leading to deficiency of both lung and kidney, deficiency of kidney yin, hyperactivity of the fire of the kidney, and disturbance of the seminal chamber, which will cause nocturnal emission, and women will have irregular menstruation and other symptoms of kidney deficiency. If the lung is weak and cannot control the liver, and the kidney is weak and cannot nourish the liver, the liver fire will be excessively strong and go against the flow and insult the lungs, and symptoms such as impatience, anger, and pain in the ribs may be seen. If the lung is weak and the heart fire is suppressed, or the kidney is weak and the water cannot support the fire, it may also be accompanied by symptoms such as insomnia, night sweats, bone steaming and tuberculosis. If the disease is prolonged and severe, it may develop into disease affecting the lungs, spleen, and kidneys. It may be due to lung disease and kidney disease, causing kidney deficiency and inability to absorb air, or due to spleen deficiency and kidney disease, causing the spleen to be unable to transform essence to nourish the kidney. From acquired to congenital, even lung deficiency may be unable to assist the heart in regulating blood circulation, leading to qi deficiency and blood stasis, and symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing, palpitations, cyanosis of the lips, cold limbs, edema, etc., which is the occurrence of cor pulmonale. This syndrome occurs in patients with deficiency of the lung, spleen, and kidney. It develops from the depletion of qi and yin and is seen in the late stage of severe pulmonary tuberculosis. In summary, pulmonary tuberculosis is caused by Yin deficiency first, which can then lead to deficiency of both Qi and Yin, or even deficiency of both Yin and Yang. In terms of organ differentiation, at the onset of the disease, it is a deficiency of lung yin, followed by simultaneous disease of the lungs and spleen, with both qi and yin damaged. In the later stages, the lungs, spleen, and kidneys are deficient, with yin damaging both yang, leading to deficiency of both yin and yang, and severe symptoms of damage to the functions of the heart, liver, and organs.
