What to do if your baby accidentally swallows plasticine

Plasticine is a toy that many babies like to play with. If a baby accidentally swallows plasticine, it may pose a threat to the baby's health. If you find that your baby has swallowed plasticine, you should first check whether the baby has difficulty breathing and remove the foreign body in time. If the child is suffocating, go to the hospital for examination and emergency treatment in time. If it has entered the stomach and the baby has no abnormalities, there is no need to worry too much.

What should you do if your baby accidentally swallows plasticine? The first thing you should do is: observe the baby's condition. If the baby is choking, help the baby remove the foreign object.

Situations that require immediate hospitalization: Severe coughing due to suffocation caused by food blocking the trachea.

Emergency first aid: When the baby is unable to breathe due to choking, immediately lift the baby upside down and pat his back hard to help him vomit. Or hold your baby from behind with both hands and press hard on your abdomen. If you continue to cough, go to the hospital as soon as possible, even if you can barely breathe. If you try to vomit but it gets stuck in your trachea, it will make breathing more difficult.

Conditions to watch out for: Once the food enters the stomach, if the baby appears to be fine, there is no need to worry or force the baby to spit it out.

Pay attention to the situation afterwards: pay attention to the stool condition for 2 to 3 days and check whether foreign objects are discharged. Even if it is not excreted with the stool, there is no need to worry if your mood and appetite gradually return. After accidental ingestion, the baby's appetite becomes worse and worse, and he is in a bad mood and cries often. It may be because something is stuck somewhere, and he needs to go to the hospital for treatment.

Generally speaking, plasticine of qualified quality is not toxic in itself. Babies generally don't have any abnormal reactions after eating plasticine, because plasticine is generally non-toxic. However, because it contains added ingredients such as dyes and flavors, if the baby doesn't eat much, it will be excreted from the body with the feces. If the baby eats too much, it is not good for the body and may have symptoms such as nausea or loss of appetite. But if the baby only eats a little, it will generally be fine and there is no need to worry.

How to make your own plasticine Method 1: Mix one and a half cups of flour, half a cup of salt, a quarter cup of vegetable oil, about a quarter cup of water, and a few drops of edible coloring. Knead until soft. If the dough is too wet add a little flour, otherwise add a little water. Continue kneading until the dough is soft and the colors are evenly mixed. Place in an airtight container or plastic bag and refrigerate. In addition, when we made plasticine with our children, we added some Vaseline for preservation.

Method 2: Mix one cup of salt, half a cup of flour and 3/4 cup of cold water, then heat. Keep stirring the mixture until it becomes viscous after two to three minutes. Knead the sticky mixture into a dough and place on wax paper or tin foil to cool. Let it cool for a while and then knead it again. The salt dough is ready to use. Wrap the salt dough in wax paper or place it in a plastic bag to store for several days.

Method 3: Tools: a pair of plastic disposable gloves, some flour, cooking oil, food coloring (dissolved in a small bowl), and a cutting board.

Operation: First, mix appropriate amounts of water, salad oil and food coloring, and then start kneading the dough. While kneading, pay attention to whether it is too dry or too thin. If it is too dry, add a little water. If it is too thin, add some flour. The salad oil makes the clay sticky and less likely to dry out. After kneading the dough evenly, it's done!

Method 4: Container: pot (a frying pan is best), small household spoon. Ingredients: 4 parts flour (50ml small measuring cup, one cup is one part), 3 parts water, 1 spoon of fine salt, 1 spoon of cooking oil, 10 drops of food coloring (increase or decrease according to your own requirements for color depth).

Preparation: Mix the flour and water well, and it is best to knead it carefully until there are no small lumps. Add oil, salt, and coloring. Pour the above semi-finished products into the pot and heat them. Keep turning the dough over and over until it becomes translucent.
