What should I do if there is a pimple under my lower eyelid?

A lump has grown on the lower eyelid. The most common one is stye, which is an acute suppurative inflammation. When a stye appears, you must not squeeze it or touch it with your hands to avoid worsening of the infection. You must understand that the eyelids are particularly rich in blood vessels. You cannot pick it with a needle by yourself. The harm is relatively large. You must take medication in time. If pain occurs, you can use warm water for hot compress.

What should I do if there is a pimple under my lower eyelid?

If you suffer from a stye, you must seek timely treatment, because the early symptoms are mild and its development can often be controlled through local treatment. The inflammation can subside quickly and heal. During treatment, anti-inflammatory eye drops, such as rifampicin, tolbridate, and tadalafil, are usually applied during the day, once every 3 to 4 hours. Apply anti-inflammatory eye ointment, such as chloramphenicol, erythromycin eye ointment, etc. before going to bed at night. If the child cooperates well, warm water and hot compress treatment can also be used. Hot compress can dilate blood vessels, improve local blood circulation, and is very helpful in promoting the absorption of inflammation and shortening the course of the disease. The specific method is to soak a clean towel in hot water, wring it out slightly, and apply it directly to the skin of the affected eye, 2 to 3 times a day, each time for 20 to 30 minutes. The temperature of the hot towel is about 450 degrees. Parents can first test the temperature with the back of their hands or their own eyelid skin to see if the child can accept it.

If treatment is not timely, in addition to local redness and swelling, there will be systemic symptoms such as fever and fatigue. Antibiotics should be added, such as amoxicillin, erythromycin, or intramuscular injection of penicillin. For styes with pus heads, the abscess can be opened and drained after it matures.

Note: 1. Before the pus head is formed, hot compress can be applied to promote suppuration. Mild inflammation can also disappear completely after hot compress. Systemic and local use of antibiotics can also promote the disappearance of inflammation. Antibiotics can be taken orally, injected intramuscularly or intravenously, and they are very effective against pyogenic bacteria. 2. Once pus head appears, it should be cut open and drained in time, and do not wait until it breaks on its own. This can reduce the pain of the child and shorten the treatment course. 3. When pus heads appear, do not squeeze them with your hands, because the eyelids are rich in blood vessels, the ocular veins are connected to the veins in the orbit, and to the cavernous sinus in the skull, and the ocular veins have no venous valves, so blood can flow back in all directions. Squeezing them can spread the inflammation and cause serious complications, such as orbital cellulitis, cavernous sinus thrombosis, and even sepsis, which can be life-threatening. 4. You can apply eye drops locally. Generally, 0.25% chloramphenicol eye drops are sufficient. If there is a lot of secretions, rifampicin eye drops will be more effective. Children can apply chloramphenicol eye ointment after falling asleep. 5. Do not rub your eyes with dirty hands to avoid bacteria entering the eyes and causing infection.
