What to do if the amniotic fluid breaks in late pregnancy

Amniotic fluid is the fluid in the amniotic cavity of the uterus during pregnancy. During the pregnancy process, amniotic fluid can keep the fetus safe and is an indispensable part of growth and development. In the late pregnancy, the amniotic fluid breaks, which is an important sign that the fetus is about to be born. Under normal circumstances, a normal delivery is when the cervix opens wide and the fetus enters the birth canal, and the amniotic fluid begins to break at this time.

What to do if the amniotic fluid breaks in late pregnancy

Pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy, especially those who are approaching their due date, are very worried about the amniotic fluid breaking every day. What if my water breaks one day? How should pregnant mothers distinguish and deal with it?

1. Once premature rupture of membranes occurs, the mother and her family should not panic too much. It is easy to behave inappropriately when they are at a loss. To prevent the fetal umbilical cord from prolapse, let the mother lie down immediately and raise her buttocks.

2. The mother should place a clean sanitary napkin on the vulva, pay attention to keeping the vulva clean, and not take a bath again.

3. As long as water breaks, regardless of whether the mother has reached the due date or has uterine contractions, she must go to the hospital immediately for treatment. Even on the way to the hospital, you need to lie down with your hips elevated.

The reason for the rupture of water is the rupture of water, which is what we commonly call the amniotic fluid breaking. Amniotic fluid plays a very important role in the entire pregnancy process of pregnant mothers. So, what is the reason for the amniotic fluid to break?

1. The cervix of the pregnant woman relaxes, which stimulates the fetal membrane and causes premature rupture of amniotic fluid.

2. Hypoplasia of the fetal membrane, such as the presence of amnion-chorioamnionitis, causes excessive pressure in the amniotic cavity, leading to premature rupture of the amniotic membrane.

3. Malposition of the fetus, narrow pelvis, cephalopelvic disproportion, polyhydramnios, multiple pregnancy, etc. can all increase the pressure in the amniotic cavity and cause premature rupture of membranes.

4. Improper sexual intercourse during pregnancy can cause amniotic-chorionic infection, especially the prostaglandins in semen can induce uterine contractions, resulting in uneven pressure in the amniotic cavity and causing premature rupture of membranes.

5. Some other factors can also cause premature rupture of membranes, such as severe coughing during pregnancy, sudden laughter or anger, and doing heavy physical work, which can cause a sharp increase in abdominal pressure, causing the fetal membrane to rupture and the amniotic fluid to flow out of the vagina.
