How to avoid scars on face wounds

If there is a wound on the face, the most worrying thing is the problem of scars after the wound heals. Of course, whether scars will appear depends on the size and depth of the wound, the patient's physical constitution, and the speed of wound healing. When the wound has completely healed and formed a scar, some methods can be used to promote the repair of the scar and minimize the impact on appearance.

How to avoid scars on face wounds

Scar repair method 1:

Simple excision and suture method. Simple excision and suture surgical scar repair method is suitable for scars of small and medium areas. Before surgical scar repair, it is best to make an incision along the skin grain design. After the skin scar is removed, the wound is carefully closed with a small needle and fine thread. After the surgical scar repair, only a thin scar line is left.

Sometimes, fractional scar excision can be used for people with larger scars and tight skin. However, the first and second operations are usually separated by more than half a year.

Scar repair method 2:

Scar excision plus skin grafting. Scars of larger areas cannot be sutured directly after scar excision because these patients do not have much normal skin. Taking facial scars as an example, surgical scar repair can be divided into areas according to the natural morphology of the face (forehead, upper and lower eyelids, nose, upper and lower lips and mandible). Surgical scar repair fills a whole piece of skin in a natural morphology area, and the number of skin grafts is determined based on the amount of scar removed.

There is also a surgical scar repair method that is suitable for patients with facial scars covering the entire face. That is, the entire facial scar can be removed at one time; and a whole piece of skin can be transplanted. This can avoid the formation of scars at the connection between partitioned skin grafts. The appearance of the surgical scar after repair is better than that of partitioned skin grafts. The best skin grafts to use are full-thickness skin grafts or skin grafts with subdermal vascular networks, because after these two types of skin grafts survive as free transplants, the color of the face will not be too dark, and the cosmetic effect will be better.

Scar repair method three:

Scar repair using skin flap method. Since the flap contains a large amount of subcutaneous fat tissue, in addition to being used to repair skin defects after facial scar excision, it also has the function of protecting deep tissues. For surgical scar repair near some facial organs, flap transplantation is also a commonly used method of surgical scar repair.

For example, defects such as nasal wing defects, ectropion deformity, and corner of mouth deformity all require cosmetic surgery based on skin flap transplantation. The color of the flap after transplantation is closer to the facial skin. Surgical scar repair can also perform filling repair on some facial tissue depressions. In addition, the flap has better blood supply and a higher survival rate than free skin grafting. Therefore, it is also a commonly used method of surgical scar repair in facial scar plastic surgery.
