How many grades can avulsion fractures be classified?

Many avulsion fractures are caused by car accidents and work-related injuries, which often involve insurance issues. At this time, the question that everyone often considers is "How many grades can avulsion fractures be classified?" Regarding the classification of avulsion fractures, it is recommended to apply for an appraisal from the relevant department and handle it based on the appraisal results. Don't forget the treatment of avulsion fracture at this time. The specific treatment methods can be referred to as follows.

1. Basic Scope

Tibial intercondylar eminence fractures and elbow fractures can both cause avulsion fractures. It belongs to the range of avulsion fracture.

2. Symptoms

The symptoms of avulsion fracture are similar to those of fracture, with pain at the injury site and partial limitation of joint movement as the main manifestations, followed by local swelling and tenderness. An avulsion fracture of the tibial eminence is a special type of intra-articular fracture23, often an avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament or posterior cruciate ligament at the tibial attachment. Inappropriate treatment can lead to malunion and cause functional instability of the knee joint. Avulsion fractures of the tibial eminence with displacement are usually treated with traditional open reduction and wire fixation. Although open reduction and wire internal fixation can effectively reduce and fix fracture fragments, it has the disadvantages of long incision, large trauma, extremely painful and lengthy postoperative functional training, easy occurrence of knee joint stiffness, and inconvenient operation due to the narrow intercondylar fossa.

3. Treatment of avulsion fractures

In case of avulsion fracture (the injured part will usually swell quickly and be very painful), do not move the injured part (mostly occurs in the ankles, knees, elbows, and knuckles), and go to the hospital immediately for examination and treatment in the emergency department, surgery department, and radiology department.

After fixation of avulsion fracture, the key is to pay attention to rest, reduce activities of the damaged part and keep warm.

General treatment:

Treatment requires medication as well as instruments or acupuncture, and also requires strengthening the nearby muscle groups, especially the small muscle groups. Remember, it is the knee muscle groups, not the thighs. Of course, the thighs also need to be trained, but the main focus is on the knees. It is recommended that the half squat should not be too deep, at an angle of 30 to 45 degrees, and the half squat time should not be too long, more than 10 minutes and less than 20 minutes; if this does not work, you can squat shallower, but the time should be more than 10 minutes. During the treatment, you can combine it with traditional Chinese medicine, such as taking some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing medicines or doing some self-rehabilitation physical therapy exercises.
