This is the simplest treatment for onychomycosis. Surgery is generally painful and the results are sometimes unsatisfactory. Patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. should not undergo surgical treatment for onychomycosis. Generally speaking, onychomycosis develops slowly in the early stages, but in severe cases all fingers (toes) may be affected. After the disease occurs, the nail plate loses its original luster. Over time, the nail plate becomes thicker and tends to deform, turning yellow. The nail plate becomes brittle and damaged.
