The testicles are the most important sexual organs for men and are a key part of male reproduction. Therefore, they are given great importance. The testicles are indeed a very fragile part of the human body and can easily go wrong, leading to serious physiological problems. Almost all testicular abnormalities can make people very nervous. For example, why does a baby boy have one testicle, larger than the other? Let’s take a look at the explanation below. 1. The baby may have cryptorchidism or hydrocele in this situation, so you need to pay close attention. You also need to take your baby to the hospital for regular checkups. Symptomatic treatment can be given in a timely manner based on the examination results. 2. The child's testicles are one large and one small. Consider whether there is testicular hydrocele or hernia. Go to a regular hospital for examination and do an ultrasound examination of the scrotum to make a clear diagnosis. Then carry out appropriate treatment based on the results. 3. Some male babies have one larger testicle than the other, or both testicles are larger than normal. They feel hard to the touch and are transparent when shone with a flashlight. This is commonly known as watery eggs, and is called hydrocele in medicine. If the fluid accumulates around the testicles and is not connected to the abdominal cavity, it is a non-communicating testicular hydrocele; if the fluid is connected to the abdominal cavity, that is, it increases when the baby is held upright and becomes smaller when lying flat, it is a communicating testicular hydrocele; if there is a separate cyst above the testicle, it is a spermatic cord hydrocele. Most hydroceles in the neonatal period are non-communicating, and most are absorbed naturally within two years of age. If it is still not absorbed after two years of age, or even grows larger, or if it falls into the latter two situations mentioned above, you should consult a pediatric surgeon to decide on appropriate treatment. 4. There are obvious individual differences in the size of boys' scrotum. But if it is too large, it may be pathological, which is generally related to the following three factors. 1. Scrotal hydrocele. Hydrocele is more common in newborns and can usually be absorbed by itself within 1 year old, without surgical treatment. If it is still not absorbed in adulthood, but if it does not affect life and work, surgical treatment is not required. If the hydrocele is large and causes corresponding symptoms, hydrocele flipping or resection is required. 5. Inguinal oblique hernia Inguinal oblique hernia has a sense of impact when the baby coughs, and the translucency test is negative and there is no wave rate. If the baby lies flat and does not cry, the swelling can be returned to the abdominal cavity, and the scrotum returns to normal. This situation generally does not require surgical treatment in childhood. It depends on the condition when the baby is older. If the swelling is incarcerated in the scrotum and cannot be returned to the abdominal cavity, emergency surgery is required to prevent complications such as intestinal necrosis. |
