Crying is a normal phenomenon and is generally a voluntary behavior. However, it may not be normal for some newborns to keep crying. For such a young child, if he keeps crying without crying, parents will definitely be concerned about the reasons, especially worrying that the child will suffer from some disease. So, why do newborns keep crying? Let’s take a look below. Frequent tearing of newborns is mostly caused by tear duct obstruction and dacryocystitis, which usually recovers on its own within 4 months. If there is no spontaneous healing within 4 months, dacryocystitis should be actively treated. If there is no redness, swelling, heat or pain at the corner of the eye or the root of the nose, it is considered to be chronic dacryocystitis, which manifests as tearing and excessive eye secretions. When squeezing the affected lacrimal sac area, a large amount of purulent or serous secretions can be seen pouring out from the lacrimal puncta, and the affected tear duct is not flushed smoothly. It is recommended to first use antibiotic eye drops and perform tear duct irrigation. If the condition cannot be cured, tear duct probing can be performed when the baby is a little older. When a baby is just born, its tear glands are not fully developed, so the baby has no tears when crying. When the baby is over one year old, tears will appear when the baby cries. If the baby sheds tears without crying and keeps rubbing his eyes, parents should promptly check whether there is any foreign object in the baby's eyes. Parents should wash their hands, gently pull open the baby's upper and lower eyelids to see if there is any foreign object, and blow gently. When blowing in the baby's eyes, the baby will feel very painful. At this time, parents should coax the baby patiently and say some encouraging words like "You are great, it will be fine in a while" to help the baby relax. If the baby's eye is often abnormally "tearful" on one side, there will be tears in the eye even when he is not crying or making a fuss. It could be that your baby's tear duct is blocked. If there are not many tears, the baby does not rub his eyes and is not uncomfortable, you can just give the child a lacrimal sac massage, using your thumb to press slightly downward along the bridge of the nose to the nose wing, 5 times a day, 5-8 times each time. When massaging the baby's lacrimal sac, parents must wash their hands with running water to prevent bacterial infection. Also make sure that your baby accepts your massage and does not cry or make a fuss, otherwise you will get half the result with twice the effort. 6. If your baby often sheds tears unconsciously and there is no improvement after the above methods, it means that the baby's eyes are likely to be inflamed and you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time without delaying the disease. |
