White vinegar kills Pityrosporum

White vinegar kills Pityrosporum

Pityrosporum can cause folliculitis, which is not much different from general folliculitis. It mainly manifests as 2-4 mm papules with pustules in the middle, accompanied by pain and itching. White vinegar has an antiviral effect. There is a saying that white vinegar can kill Pityrosporum. We do not recommend the use of white vinegar for treatment. Regular methods are the key to treatment.

Clinical manifestations include diffuse, symmetrical, dense but unfused dome-shaped red follicular papules on the back, chest, and shoulders. Some are small follicular pustules, and sometimes powdery substances can be squeezed out. The skin between the rashes is normal, and the surface of the rash is not covered with scales or seborrheic substances.

The diagnostic method is to use a lancet to shave off the follicular papule, drop a drop of 50% Parker ink and 10% potassium hydroxide solution, cover with a glass slide, warm it slightly, and examine it directly under a microscope or an oil microscope. If you see round or oval spores with thick walls or banana-shaped hyphae with blue reflection in the center, it is clear that Pityrosporum is present.
