Toothache causes and treatments

Toothache causes and treatments

China is a vast country with abundant resources. There are great differences in food between the south and the north. In addition to the differences in basic staple foods such as rice and noodles, the vegetables eaten daily or the ways of cooking are also different. We can only know the taste of these delicacies by tasting them ourselves. If you want to enjoy delicious food, you must have good teeth. However, toothache is indeed a common oral disease. What are the causes and treatments of toothache?

For acute pulpitis and acute periapical periodontitis, pulpotomy and drainage should be performed in time. Inserting camphor phenol and clove oil cotton balls into the caries cavity can relieve the pain. You can also acupuncture the Hegu or toothache point to obtain temporary pain relief, then go to the hospital for further treatment.

Acute periodontitis and periodontal abscess. Before an abscess is formed, you can clean the dental plaque, take periodontal medication, antibiotics, apply iodine glycerin externally, etc.; if an abscess has formed, it should be incised and drained, and antibiotics should be used to control the infection.

Tooth hypersensitivity. Brushing your teeth horizontally should be prohibited to avoid excessive force. Brush your teeth using the vertical brushing technique. Using acid-proof toothpaste, herbal toothpaste, desensitizing toothpaste or 10% baking soda glycerin to brush your teeth has a certain therapeutic effect. You can also go to the hospital for desensitization treatment.

Food impaction pain. Dental floss can be used to remove impacted food particles.

Residual roots, residual crowns and diseased teeth that can no longer be retained should be extracted as soon as possible and restored with dentures (false teeth) after two months. Dentures are what people often call "false teeth". Just like calling "artificial legs" and "artificial limbs" "prosthetic limbs", "dentures" mean teeth that fulfill their "duties" for humans. In medicine, it is a general term for restorations made after partial or complete tooth loss in the upper or lower teeth. There are two types of dentures: removable and fixed. Fixed dentures (commonly known as "fixed dentures") cannot be removed and put on by the patients themselves, while removable dentures (commonly known as "removable dentures") can be easily removed and put on by the patients.

Classification of dentures:

1. Removable dentures: Dentures that patients can put on and take off by themselves. They are suitable for situations where most teeth are missing and there are few remaining teeth. The advantage is that patients can take it off for cleaning, which puts less burden on the remaining teeth. However, it also has many inconveniences such as low chewing efficiency and the need for patients to take it off for cleaning after meals.

2. Fixed dentures: Use the healthy teeth on both sides of the missing teeth as support to fix the dentures in the mouth. It is suitable for situations where a few teeth are missing, intermittent teeth are missing, and the remaining teeth are in good health. The advantages are that fixed dentures have high chewing efficiency, are comfortable for patients to wear, have little foreign body sensation, and do not need to be removed. The disadvantage is that during the restoration, some tooth tissue of the healthy teeth on both sides of the missing tooth must be removed before a full crown restoration can be performed.

3. Dental implants: This is a newer technology that has developed rapidly in recent years. The method is to implant the implant in the alveolar bone. After the implant and the alveolar bone form bone fusion, the tooth is placed on the implant. However, dental implants require the patient to be in good general health and the alveolar bone to have a certain height and width. Dental implants are comfortable and beautiful to use, and do not damage adjacent teeth, but they are expensive.
