The efficacy, effects and contraindications of Yuanshen

The function of Yuanshen is to remove blood stasis, replenish yin, remove fire and detoxify. Yuanshen can be used in combination with other medicines to treat fever, night sweats, constipation, nosebleeds, gastrointestinal bleeding, and even red eyes, constipation, skin erythema, and ulcers. There are some taboos in the use of Yuanshen, mainly because it is inversely compatible with Veratrum in Chinese medicine and cannot be used together. Some patients with weak constitution, deficiency of qi and blood, abdominal pain, and even poor gastrointestinal function should not use Yuanshen.

Adenophora Root is moist and can clear away heat, detoxify, quench thirst, nourish yin and moisten dryness. Adenophora has the effects of removing heat and toxins, softening and dispersing nodules. It is used to treat red eyes, sore throat, scrofula, sores and carbuncles. Contraindications: Not suitable for use with Veratrum. It is not suitable for people with weak spleen and stomach, food stagnation and loose stools.

Yuanshen is also known as Adenophora, and Poria has bitter, sweet and cold properties, and has the effects of removing blood stasis, nourishing yin, clearing away heat and removing fire. It can treat symptoms such as heat entering the blood due to febrile diseases, irritability, dry mouth, restless sleep at night, or high fever and rash due to febrile diseases.
