Tips for treating dry and sore nose due to cold

When you have a cold, if your nose becomes dry and sore, if you don't pay attention to maintenance, it can easily lead to problems with the mucous membrane in the nasal cavity, and even cause nosebleeds. When the nasal mucosa is relatively dry, you must pay attention to keep it moisturized in time. You can apply some lubricating medicine inside. In addition, you must replenish water in time. It is best to wear a mask when going out to avoid aggravating the dryness.

Tips for treating dry and sore nose due to cold

Because the air is dry in winter and spring, the nasal mucosa dries out and the capillaries rupture and bleed. Many people feel that their nasal cavity is very dry when they wake up in the morning and before going to bed. They can blow out a lot of dry scabs, and if they use too much force, it will cause bleeding. In addition, children often have bad hygiene habits, such as picking, rubbing, and blowing their noses. Some also suffer from dry and bleeding noses due to sleeping on a heated kang or using an electric blanket.

1. Drink more water to relieve dry nose

If you feel your nose is dry, you should drink more water to stimulate your nerves and strengthen your body's circulation regulation. Replenishing the body with water at the right time and in the right amount is a very important part of health preservation in winter. It is simple and effective. It is recommended that you eat more citrus fruits, because citrus fruits with strong sour taste are very effective in treating dry nose when eaten with honey.

There is also a very simple way to avoid dry nose in winter, which is to pour a cup of hot water, then inhale deeply into the cup to let the steam fumigate your nasal cavity. Do it for about 5 minutes each time, once in the morning and once in the evening. It is also very effective in preventing nosebleeds. You might as well give it a try.

2. It is best to wash your face, mouth and nose after going out

After coming back from outside and entering the room, in addition to changing clothes and washing hands, it is best to also wash your face, mouth, and nose. It is best to use warm water to wash your face; the purpose of gargling is to remove dirt attached to the mouth.

The most important thing is to clean the nasal cavity. The method to clean the nasal cavity is: after washing your hands, hold warm water, gently inhale the water with your nose and blow your nose quickly, repeat several times, and all the dirt in the nasal cavity will be cleaned up. It is worth noting that when cleaning the nasal cavity, be sure to suck water gently to avoid choking. When cleaning a child's nasal cavity, you can use a clean cotton swab dipped in water and clean it repeatedly.

3. It is not advisable to wear a mask for a long time

Wearing a mask can maintain the temperature and humidity of the nose to a certain extent, and filter out germs and dust in the air in autumn and winter. However, if you wear a mask for a long time, the exhaled carbon dioxide and other waste gases will be re-inhaled into the body together with fresh oxygen, causing hypoxia.

Moreover, friends should also realize that the other side of overprotection is vulnerability. The human nasal mucosa needs exercise just like the mucosa in other parts of the respiratory tract. If it can be exposed to cold air appropriately, the nasal mucosa's ability to adapt to the cold can be improved. Otherwise, the nasal mucosa becomes very fragile and more susceptible to colds. If you wear a mask frequently in winter, you need to clean it every day.

4. Place a humidifier in dry weather

Place a humidifier indoors to ensure the indoor humidity, especially in winter, spring and autumn, which are more prone to dry seasons, or place a basin of clean water indoors at night. If the indoor floor has a floor, it is best to wipe it with a wet cloth twice a day to also achieve a moisturizing effect.

Open windows frequently for ventilation. It is recommended to ventilate once in the morning and once in the evening. Keep the room temperature between 18℃-24℃; control the indoor humidity at 50% to 60%; when there is plenty of sunlight, let as much sunlight as possible into the room, because the ultraviolet rays in the sunlight have a bactericidal effect; you can also use vinegar to fumigate the room for disinfection.

5. Diet is critical

In winter, the human body absorbs less vitamin C, so paying attention to supplementing a certain amount of vitamin C is beneficial for preventing nosebleeds. For patients who are prone to nosebleeds, some foods that are beneficial to treatment can be added to their daily diet.

For example, for those with excessive heat in the lung meridian, you can use tofu and gypsum soup, lotus root juice and honey dew, seaweed and white radish soup, etc.; for those with liver fire ascending type, you can use lotus root node and watermelon porridge, chrysanthemum and reed root porridge, water spinach, white radish and honey dew, etc.; for those with liver and kidney yin deficiency type, you can use raw rehmannia straw root and black bean decoction, raw rehmannia and cornus officinalis meat porridge, peanut skin decoction, pig's trotter and black date soup, etc.

6. Rub or massage your nose every day

Bathing the nose with cold water can improve its ability to resist cold. It is best to wash the face and nose with cold water all year round. Do nose rubbing or nose point massage every day. Use your thumb to rub the nose wings up and down along the bridge of nose several times, and use your index finger to rotate and massage the Yingxiang point several times to enhance blood circulation in the nose; when the climate is dry, you can use drops of compound peppermint oil, etc.

If you don't have time to go to the hospital, the easiest way is to use the salad oil at home and apply it to your nose. Generally speaking, apply it once in the morning and once in the evening, three to four drops in each nostril. Do not pick your nose with your hands to avoid further damage to the nasal mucosa.
