Toothache and half of the face and throat swelling, what is going on?

Toothache is considered a minor illness, but it is really painful when it happens. It can cause swelling on one side of your face and throat, and you can’t eat. I believe many patients with toothache have experienced this. In fact, toothache is indeed a common disease, which may be caused by many reasons, such as gingivitis, tooth decay or inflammation, headache, and swelling on half of the face. You must go to a regular hospital for treatment. In daily life, you should also pay more attention to oral hygiene and eat more light food.

The toothache caused half of my face and throat to swell, this should be gingivitis. Gum disease is a lesion limited to the gingival tissue. The most common of these is chronic gingivitis, also known as marginal gingivitis or simple gingivitis. It is a type of "gingivitis only related to dental plaque" and is the most common disease among plaque-related gingivitis. Gingival inflammation is mainly located in the free gingiva and gingival papilla. This is commonly known as gingivitis. It can occur in children aged 3 to 5 years old, and the incidence and severity gradually increase with age, reaching a peak in adolescence. Gingivitis is slightly more common in male children than in female children. Developing countries and regions are higher than economically developed countries.

Emergency measures

1 Metronidazole + other anti-inflammatory drugs

Anyone who has experienced toothache will have a deep impression of metronidazole, a commonly used medicine for treating toothache that tastes extremely bitter. Metronidazole itself is an anti-inflammatory drug, and it is more effective in treating toothache when combined with drugs such as Sanhuang tablets or amoxicillin. You can also grind metronidazole into powder and rinse your mouth with water, or hold it directly in your mouth to increase the contact surface and relieve toothache. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking anti-inflammatory drugs.

3. Ginger

Ginger is usually available in every household. You can cut it into slices and bite it on the painful area to relieve the pain.

4. Alcohol

Alcohol has an anti-inflammatory effect. You can rinse your mouth with alcohol or white wine. You can rinse your mouth multiple times to relieve toothache.

5. Ice

Ice compress can reduce the sensitivity and excitability of nerves. When the pain is unbearable, you can apply ice to the painful area to relieve the pain.

6. Toothpaste

You can apply toothpaste to the painful area, hold it in your mouth for a while and then rinse your mouth. You can repeat this many times. It also has the effect of killing bacteria and relieving pain.

7. Mung Bean Soup

Mung bean soup is cooling and detoxifying, and has a therapeutic effect on toothaches caused by wind and fire, but the effect may be slightly slow. You can also boil mung bean soup and drink it, but adding sugar is not recommended. Although sugar is cool in nature, it is the culprit for many oral diseases, so avoid exacerbating the condition.

8. Chinese medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine also has many oral and topical prescriptions for treating toothaches. The effects may be slightly slower, but it focuses on internal conditioning, emphasizes treating both the symptoms and the root cause, and has few side effects. I personally strongly recommend Chinese medicine treatment. You can also take a compromise approach, using Western medicine to relieve pain in the early stages and Chinese medicine to regulate the body in the later stages

Precautions

The cause of toothache is directly related to eating habits and oral hygiene.

1. Develop good oral hygiene habits, brush your teeth in the morning and evening. Brushing your teeth can be done 3 minutes after a meal to reduce irritation and damage to the teeth.

2 Avoid spicy, overly sweet, or sour foods, hard foods, and alcohol.

3 Eat more cooling and heat-removing foods and vegetables.
