Yueju Wan is the name of a Chinese medicine prescription. Originated from Volume 3 of "Dan Xi's Heart Method". It is a Qi-moving and Qi-regulating agent. It has the effect of relieving depression. It is mainly used to treat six types of depression. Symptoms include chest tightness, abdominal distension and pain, belching and acid regurgitation, nausea and retching, indigestion due to diet, greasy tongue coating, and deep pulse. In clinical medicine, it is common in chronic gastritis, chronic colitis, stomach and duodenum, gastric neurosis, chronic hepatitis, chronic pancreatitis, cholecystitis, intercostal neuralgia, and women's dysmenorrhea and irregular menstruation due to qi stagnation.

Take equal parts of Cyperus rotundus, Notopterygium incisum, Paeonia lactiflora, King of Electric Music, and Gardenia jasminoides (10g each).

How to use Yueju Pills and how much to use

1. Usage in ancient times: Grind the original formula into powder and make into pills as big as mung beans. Take two to three coins each time with warm water.

2. Modern usage: Grind the above medicines into powder, make into pills with water, take 3 times a day, 6-9g each time, with warm water; it can also be made into medicine, decocted in water and taken orally, according to the original prescription.

The meaning of Yuejuwan

The six depression syndromes treated by our prescription are caused by stagnation of liver and spleen. If the liver qi is stagnant, the blood circulation will be poor, or the stagnation will turn into fire over time, so the liver is responsible for the stagnation of qi, blood and fire; if the stomach and intestines are stagnant, the ascending and descending organs will be disordered, the digestion and absorption will be disrupted, dampness will accumulate and phlegm will be produced, or food will be stagnant, so the dampness, phlegm and food are responsible for the stagnation of qi and blood in the stomach and intestines (stomach). Although the disease is referred to as the six depressions, they are all caused by Qi stagnation. The treatment should focus on regulating Qi and relieving depression. When Qi flows, the blood will flow smoothly and the fire will be cleared. When Qi flows smoothly, dampness will be transformed and phlegm will be eliminated. Polygonum multiflorum can soothe the liver and regulate qi to treat qi stagnation, and is the main medicine. Qianghuo is pungent and is a blood, kidney and qi medicine. It can not only promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis to treat blood stasis, but also assist Xiangfu in regulating qi and relieving depression, and is a minister medicine. Gardenia jasminoides can clear away heat and dampness to treat fire depression; red peony root can transform dampness and regulate the spleen to treat dampness depression; king of electronic music can aid digestion and relieve stagnation to treat food depression. Simplified version of Yuejuwan

For those with obvious qi stagnation, add ginger, magnolia bark, and aurantium to regulate qi and relieve depression; for those with obvious blood stasis, add Chuanxiong and Salvia miltiorrhiza to promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, and relieve pain; for those with excessive internal fire, add Scutellaria baicalensis and Bupleurum chinense to clear away heat and dampness; for those with obvious food stagnation in diet, add maltose and radish seeds to aid digestion and harmonize the stomach; for those with excessive dampness, add Scutellaria baicalensis and Coix seed to strengthen the spleen and stomach and eliminate dampness; for those with excessive phlegm, add Pinellia ternata and Poria cocos to reduce adverse effects, relieve cough and resolve phlegm.
