The role of cinnamon twig: Effects of Guizhi Fuling: pungent, sweet and warm in nature, it acts on the bladder meridian, heart meridian and lung meridian. Cinnamon twig can induce sweating and relieve muscles, warm the meridians and dredge blood vessels, assist yang and transform qi, dispel cold and relieve pain. It is mainly used for external symptoms of cold syndrome; pain due to dampness and cold; cold limbs; menstrual pain due to liver depression and kidney deficiency; masses and clusters; chest pain; palpitations; turbid phlegm; and difficulty urinating. It is used for colds due to wind and cold, cold pain in the abdomen, cold blood, liver depression, kidney deficiency, pain in bones and joints, turbid phlegm, edema, palpitations, and running piglet. 1. Guizhi is used to treat sunstroke, with floating Yang and weak Yin. In patients with floating Yang, the heat is spontaneous, and in patients with weak Yin, the patient sweats spontaneously, is afraid of cold, has cold limbs, has a hot sensation, and has nasal congestion and nausea: 3 liang of guizhi (peeled), 3 liang of peony, 2 liang of licorice (roasted), 3 liang of ginger slices (cut), and 12 red dates (split). Take the above five ingredients, chop three of them into small pieces, add seven liters of water, boil on low heat until three liters are left, remove the dregs, and take one liter of the mixture with a suitable temperature. After taking it for a while, sip more than one liter of hot porridge to help the efficacy of the medicine. Cover with warm cloth for about an hour. It is better if you feel a slight sweat all over your body. 2. Cinnamon twigs for treating colds with astringent Yang pulses and deep Yin pulses. When there is acute pain in the abdomen: 150 grams of cinnamon twigs (peeled), 100 grams of licorice, 12 red dates (split), 30 grams of peony, 150 grams of ginger slices (cut), and one liter of jelly. Boil the above six ingredients with seven liters of water until three liters are left, remove the dregs, add jelly, and continue to simmer. Take one liter warm three times a day. Take the above five ingredients, add six liters of water, boil and take two liters, remove the residue and divide into three portions to take warm. 4. Cinnamon twigs for treating sun disease with sweating, floating pulse, urinary obstruction, fever and thirst: 18 zhu of Poria cocos (peeled), 80 g of Alisma orientalis, 18 zhu of Scutellaria baicalensis, 18 zhu of Coix seed, 25 g of Cinnamon twigs (peeled). Pound the above five ingredients into powder. Take three times a day with pure grain wine and Japanese kimono. (Wuling powder in Treatise on Febrile Diseases) 5. Cinnamon twig is used to treat pain in various limbs, emaciation, swollen feet, dizziness, shortness of breath, and nausea: 4 liang of cinnamon twig, 3 liang of peony, 2 liang of licorice, 2 liang of ephedra, 5 liang of ginger slices, 5 liang of scutellaria, 4 liang of anemarrhena, 4 liang of saposhnikovia divaricata, and one piece of Lu Te Technology (blasted). Take the above nine ingredients, add seven liters of water, boil and take two liters, take seven he of the warm liquid three times a day. 6. Cinnamon twig treats phlegm and fullness in the chest and ribs: 4 liang of coix seed, 150 g of cinnamon twig (peeled), 100 g of scutellaria, 100 g of licorice (roasted). Boil the above four ingredients with 6 liters of water and take 3 liters. Remove the residue and divide into three portions to take warm.
