What are the symptoms of high blood lipids? Traditional Chinese medicine teaches you to check high blood lipids from your eyes

As the quality of life and conditions are getting better and better, many patients with hyperlipidemia are becoming more and more common, which is particularly worrying. There are many causes of high blood lipids, most of which are due to a greasy diet, obesity, lack of exercise, a preference for eating animal offal, drinking and smoking, etc. These are the culprits of high blood lipids. At the same time, high blood lipids will also react on the eyes, such as xanthelasma on the eyelids, and a grayish-white circle around the dark circles. So how can we prevent and treat this situation?

Eyelids: Check for "xanthomas".

If middle-aged and elderly people, especially women, have new yellow, orange or brownish-red patches or nodules on their eyelids that are painless or itchy, they are likely to be xanthomas. It often grows at the inner corner of the upper eyelid, and may also appear on other parts of the face or on the knees. It is the size of a needle tip or a soybean, with edges slightly higher than the skin surface and a soft texture.

Black eyeball: check if there is an "age ring".

If a grayish-white ring-shaped structure about 1 to 2 mm wide appears on the edge of the black eyeball, it is called a senile ring.

Senile rings often occur in elderly people with arteriosclerosis and hypercholesterolemia, and sometimes young and middle-aged people with high blood lipids may also experience them.

Young people under the age of 40 who develop senile rings should pay more attention and go to the hospital for examination in time.

It should be noted that only some patients with hyperlipidemia will develop xanthomas and senile rings. The absence of xanthomas and senile rings does not mean that there is no hyperlipidemia. Therefore, it is very important to pay attention to blood lipid levels during routine physical examinations.

Whether blood lipids are high or not, there is an important indicator

Blood lipids include cholesterol, triglycerides, and lipids such as phospholipids, and cholesterol is divided into low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C, commonly known as "bad" cholesterol) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C, commonly known as "good" cholesterol).

Among them, increased "bad" cholesterol is the most harmful and is an important reference indicator for blood lipid tests. It forms atherosclerotic plaques in blood vessels. As plaques continue to grow, the arteries gradually narrow or even become blocked, causing diseases such as angina pectoris and myocardial ischemia. If these plaques suddenly rupture and fall off, they will quickly block blood vessels, causing acute myocardial infarction or even sudden death, just like "time bombs" buried in people's bodies.

According to statistics, the number of patients with dyslipidemia in my country has exceeded 220 million. Four types of people are at higher risk of developing hyperlipidemia: "elites" who often socialize, "foodies" who like animal offal, "homebodies" who don't like sports, and "drunkards" who are addicted to alcohol.

Among them, hot pot and barbecue have an unshakable status in the food world. Animal kidneys (kidneys), livers, brains, hearts, etc. have become regular guests on the dining table, which poses a hidden danger to increased blood lipids.

Animal offal contains a large amount of cholesterol. For example, the cholesterol content of 100 grams of pig brain is as high as 2000 mg, which is nearly 6 times more than the 300 mg per day recommended in the "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents".

In addition, smokers, obese people, postmenopausal women and men over 40 years old, and those with a family history of cardiovascular disease are all at high risk of hyperlipidemia. They should pay attention to their blood lipid levels and actively cooperate with treatment once diagnosed.

The most common problems encountered in lipid-lowering

Many people feel that they have controlled their diet, exercised, and taken medicine, but still cannot effectively control their blood lipids. This may be due to the following three problems.

1. Question: I don’t eat fried food, why is my blood lipid still high?

A: Tell me the truth, do you like rice with gravy, sweet and sour pork, and three fresh delicacies?

There is a lot of fat in rice, so people with high blood lipids are advised to eat the vegetables with the meal, and eat less or no vegetable soup. Although the word "fried" is not included in the names of dishes such as Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin, Fried Eggs with Green Peppers, Braised Hairtail, and Three Fresh Vegetables, the meat, eggs, fish, and vegetables in them are usually fried first, which is often overlooked.

It should be noted that controlling diet does not necessarily mean that blood lipids will not be high.

Only 10% of the cholesterol produced in the human body comes from food, and the role of diet is not decisive. People with metabolic disorders may have high cholesterol even if they only eat a vegetarian diet, so people with a thin body may also have high blood lipids.

2. Question: I have been working out for two weeks with great effort, but why is there no effect?

To see the effect of controlling blood lipids, you need to exercise for at least 3 months. If you exercise on and off all the time, it will easily lead to a greatly increased body absorption rate and increased ability to store energy, which will not only be detrimental to the improvement of blood lipid conditions, but may also increase blood lipids. Some studies have shown that if you stop exercising for a month, the beneficial changes that have been brought about will disappear. It takes at least three months to achieve a comprehensive improvement in blood lipid status, and long-term persistence is more effective than concentrated exercise.

3. Question: My blood lipids have dropped. Can I stop taking the medicine?

If your blood lipid levels are indeed well controlled and you do not have any problems such as coronary heart disease, you can reduce the dosage after consulting a doctor and see the effect. If blood lipids rise, it means you need to maintain the original dosage.

In addition, some tips in life can also help reduce fat, you can try them.

Use the water soaking the beans to make soy milk. Generally speaking, soaking the beans for 8 to 12 hours in advance will make the soy milk taste richer and more delicate. The substances dissolved in the water used to soak beans have certain health benefits. For example, phytic acid and tannins can reduce the rate of increase of blood sugar and blood lipids to a certain extent.

Squeeze the grip ball often. People with high blood lipids can carry a grip ball (also known as a stress relief ball) with them and squeeze it about 20 times each time. It can promote blood circulation in the upper limbs, prevent thrombosis, mobilize joints, enhance heart contractility, and help calm and soothe the mood.
