1. Check whether the lumbar spine is bent forward or backward. Bend the body forward. The normal angle is about 60 degrees, and the hands are 1-2 cm off the ground. If the forward bending angle is too small or the distance from the ground is too far, it means there is a problem; put your hands on your waist and bend your body backward. The normal angle is 30-40 degrees. Most people are often unable to measure the angle accurately during self-examination, but if the movement is stiff or painful, it is abnormal.

2. Check whether the lumbar spine is bent to the left or right. Look in the mirror at the height of the left and right waistbands of your pants. If the difference is within 2 cm, it is normal; if it exceeds 2 cm and is accompanied by symptoms such as low back pain and knee pain, you need to see a doctor. It can also be detected by shoulder height. The side with higher shoulders means that the spine on that side is more protruding and the waist is bent towards the other side. Or stand against a wall, and use your middle finger to touch along the side seam of your pants down to the side of your knee, and feel the degree of bending on both sides. If the movement on the left side is easier, it means your waist is bent to the left.
