Laser treatment for enlarged tonsils

Laser treatment for enlarged tonsils

As we all know, tonsils belong to lymphatic tissue. Because their appearance resembles tonsils, they are called tonsils, or tonsils. It should be said that tonsils have existed in the pharynx since the human body was born. Everyone's tonsils are different sizes. Generally speaking, as long as the size is within the normal range, it will not bring any adverse effects to human health. However, if the tonsils are enlarged, it is necessary to use laser light for treatment.

Tonsils (also called tonsils) are a pair of tonsil-shaped lymphoid tissues that exist in the pharynx of every person since birth. The size of children's tonsils varies from person to person and is generally within the normal range. In the past, the medical community believed that tonsils were a redundant and useless tissue that was harmful rather than beneficial, so doctors often encouraged patients to remove them in order to clear the lesions that caused disease infection. In fact, tonsils are also part of the lymphoid tissue of the human immune system. Immunological research in recent years has confirmed that tonsils grow on both sides of the oropharynx, can produce phagocytes, and have the immune function of defending and resisting the invasion of external pathogens into the body. This function is more obvious in children. Therefore, moderate hypertrophy of the tonsils is not always pathological, but a normal compensatory function and physiological phenomenon of children to resist disease. After the age of 14 to 15, children develop into puberty. As the immune system gradually improves, the tonsils shrink and complete their historical mission.

1. Drug treatment: Traditional drug treatment for acute tonsillitis generally uses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs. The disadvantage of this local treatment method is that it only reduces inflammation but cannot eliminate the bacteria in the tonsillar crypts. Once the body's resistance is reduced, it is very easy to relapse, and chronic lesions will form over time.

2. Surgical treatment: Tonsils have certain immune functions of the human body, and surgical removal of tonsils is dangerous. It also brings great pain and heavy economic burden to patients. Generally, if you are not a seriously ill patient, tonsillectomy is not recommended.

Laser surgery is not suitable for tonsillectomy. Tonsillectomy can be performed by total or partial removal.
