What causes chest wall pain?

Generally, the cause of internal pain in the body is mostly inflammation. There are several reasons for chest wall pain, which may be costochondritis or inflammation caused by the influenza virus. This inflammation needs to be treated as soon as possible, because in the later stages the inflammation will worsen and infect the surrounding healthy tissues and organs. The tissues and organs in the chest cavity are very important and should be taken seriously. Let me introduce the situation in detail below.

Causes

Costochondritis is a condition in which the cartilage between the ribs is sprained and inflamed, and is one of the more common chest wall pain diseases.

Inflammation caused by viruses such as influenza is called Tietze's syndrome. (The flu itself can also cause bone pain all over the body.)

Broken ribs are less common but are also the most painful.

symptom

Local swelling and pain in the chest and flank

The patient initially feels chest pain, and soon thereafter a swelling and tenderness develops at the affected cartilage. The pain worsens with deep breathing, coughing, and moving the affected upper limb, and sometimes radiates to the shoulder or back.

No changes in skin surface

The affected area is swollen, with clear and fixed edges, no adhesion to the skin, and a smooth skin surface without redness or heat.

The duration of the disease varies

The pain symptoms of this disease usually gradually ease or disappear within 3 to 4 weeks.

In some cases, symptoms vary in severity and may recur repeatedly or last for months or even years.

After the affected costal cartilage swells to a certain extent, some will gradually shrink; but in some cases, even though the pain has subsided, the costal cartilage continues to swell and does not shrink.

treat

The inflamed area will heal on its own without medication, but your doctor may prescribe pain relievers and anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen).

If your ribs are broken you can only wait for the wound to heal on its own.

There is no need to take antibiotics as they have no effect on viruses.

Chest wall pain is the most common chest pain. Specific treatment methods can be referred to the following:

Drug treatment

Treatment: Take anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs such as prednisone, or antiviral drugs such as Vibrio.

Disadvantages: Relying on various hormone drugs to achieve analgesic effects can only temporarily relieve pain but cannot cure chest wall pain. Moreover, long-term use of hormone drugs will produce multiple side effects on the human body, further reducing the body's immunity and even increasing the body's resistance to drugs, making the disease more difficult to cure.
