The difference between night sweats and sleep sweating

Many people sweat while sleeping. In addition to the reason of hot weather, there is also the term "night sweats" in traditional Chinese medicine. This is a pathological problem that needs to be improved with medication. Therefore, it is important to distinguish between night sweats and sleep-induced sweating. Night sweats are still relatively common among middle-aged people, and they need to take some Chinese patent medicines according to the course of treatment. Night sweats can also occur in children. Parents should take good care of them for their healthy growth.

1. Babies sweat a lot, which is mainly caused by their active metabolism. As long as they calm down and the indoor temperature is not too high, the sweating will naturally subside. Sometimes babies sweat after sleeping at night. This situation is called night sweats. As the name suggests, the baby sweats secretly after sleeping. This situation is often caused by illness.

2. For example, if the baby has a weak spleen and stomach, lacks trace elements, has a cold, or has diseases such as tuberculosis. However, night sweats are divided into two types: one is physiological, and the other is pathological.

3. When the baby is fed improperly or has sympathetic nervous tension, such as irregular feeding resulting in indigestion or food accumulation, or when the baby has congenital heart disease, it may also cause the baby to sweat at night.

What should I do if my child has night sweats?

1. Stay hydrated

After sweating a lot, you need to maintain the water balance in the body's internal environment and replenish enough water in time. Water should be replenished in multiple times, in small amounts each time. The pH value of human body fluids is about 7.4, which is slightly alkaline. When parents replenish water for their children, they should choose more weakly alkaline water, such as vegetable juice, lemonade or quality-guaranteed boiled water, and should not or less choose acidic water, such as cola, soda, etc.

2. Supplement minerals and trace elements

When sweating, a large amount of sodium chloride is lost along with the sweat. If it is not replenished in time, it can cause dehydration and sodium deficiency. In severe cases, it can cause circulatory failure and convulsions. You can add a small amount of salt every day, but it is best not to exceed 1 gram. Too much will increase the risk of developing hypertension in the future.

3. Protein supplement

If you sweat for a long time and in large quantities, the body may experience a negative nitrogen balance. This is because nitrogen will be excreted with sweat, and water loss can promote the decomposition of tissue protein. The increase in blood cortisol concentration can also accelerate protein metabolism, thereby increasing urinary nitrogen excretion and weakening the digestive and absorption functions, so fecal nitrogen excretion also increases.
