What preparations should be made before cesarean section

Caesarean section and natural birth are different. A woman can be discharged from the hospital in a few days after a natural birth, but a woman generally needs to stay in the hospital for about a week after a Caesarean section. If the woman is physically weak, she may need to stay in the hospital for half a month. Therefore, a Caesarean section will require a longer stay in the hospital. What you need to prepare during these days are the supplies before the Caesarean section, as well as some personal care and precautions.

Things to note before vaginal delivery:

n Psychological preparation (for both spouses).

n Go to the hospital promptly if you experience signs of labor (regular uterine contractions, lower abdominal distension and back pain, spotting, premature rupture of membranes, etc.).

n In case of abnormalities, such as vaginal discharge or bleeding, please go to the hospital for treatment immediately.

Things to note before cesarean section:

n Preoperative nurses provide skin preparation and catheterization.

n Preoperative dietary preparation: fasting after 22:00 the night before surgery, and eating a light, easily digestible meal that night.

n Bathing before surgery should not be too long to prevent colds.

n Psychological preparation.

n Preparation for sleep.

Precautions after vaginal delivery and cesarean section:

1. Pay attention to vaginal bleeding after delivery.

You will bleed a lot about 1 or 2 hours after delivery. This is the remaining blood, mucus and other tissue in the uterus that has not been discharged. Later the amount of blood will gradually decrease. It will be dark red at first, then turn pink, and finally turn brown. Postpartum bleeding will last about 6 weeks. At this time, you need to prepare some loose cotton underwear and sanitary napkins for postpartum women, change them in time every day and keep them clean.

2. Supplement nutrition in time after delivery.

Your body will feel weak after giving birth, so it is in urgent need of nutrition. Adequate carbohydrates in the first meal will help restore energy; protein can quickly repair the body; fresh fruits and vegetables can be diuretic and laxative; rich iron and vitamin C that helps iron absorption are also essential nutrients that can help the body recover the blood lost during delivery. In addition, when breastfeeding your baby, the bones will lose a lot of calcium, so it is also necessary to supplement calcium in time. Women who have undergone surgical delivery can only eat after the gas is discharged. Eat small meals for the first time and then gradually transition to a normal diet.
