Can I have massage during menstruation?

Women’s menstrual period is a very special period. There are some things that you can do at other times but cannot do during menstruation. Massage is good for our body and there is definitely no problem in doing it on a daily basis. However, women's body resistance is weak during menstruation, and they are worried that massage may have adverse effects on their bodies. So, can I have massage during menstruation? Let’s take a closer look below.

You cannot have massage during your menstrual period. Massage during menstruation will increase the amount of menstruation. Women are prone to fatigue during menstruation, which may be caused by fatigue in the limbs due to lack of calcium. At this time, you can eat more iron-containing foods and proteins that can improve iron absorption to replenish the iron lost in the blood. At this time, you can also do some simple local massages such as waist and legs to help relieve fatigue.

Situations where massage is not possible

Too full or too hungry

Being overtired or having poor sleep or overeating for a long time will increase the blood supply to the gastrointestinal tract. At this time, massage will cause a large amount of blood to concentrate on the body surface, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the gastrointestinal tract and causing symptoms such as indigestion.

It is recommended to have massage one hour after a meal. If you are too hungry, too tired or have poor sleep quality, you may experience "dizziness" during the massage, similar to needle dizziness, due to low blood sugar and poor blood supply throughout the body.

Six situations where massage is not suitable

dislocation

When dislocation, fracture, or bone structure is not in the physiological position, massage may aggravate the dislocation of bones and joints, and even cause or aggravate damage to peripheral nerves, blood vessels, and organs, worsening the condition; in the acute stage of sprain, the soft tissue around the sprain is in a state of edema, and massage will instead aggravate the swelling and pain of the soft tissue.

Skin trauma

In cases of skin inflammation, burns, trauma, etc., massage will aggravate the injury and make the inflammation worse. It may also cause cellulitis due to bacterial infection. In addition, if you have skin diseases such as herpes, massage may expand the infection area, so massage is not recommended.

During menstruation or pregnancy

It is usually not recommended to perform massage on the waist and pelvic area during women's menstrual period or pregnancy, so as not to stimulate the uterus, affect the normal menstrual physiological process or cause effects on the pregnant woman or fetus.
