The child has a big bump like a mosquito bite

The child has big mosquito-like bumps on his body. This is generally caused by urticaria. Urticaria will appear as some white patches of rash, which feels a bit like mosquito bites. Although it looks scary, it has a strong self-limiting effect. Generally speaking, it will gradually subside with intensive care. Of course, it is necessary to prevent recurrence, especially if the child has a sensitive constitution, and timely treatment should be given.

Causes of urticaria

One of the common causes is viral infection. My sister first got urticaria after she had a fever due to a viral infection. It was the first time I encountered it, and I was so nervous that I immediately took her to the Children's Research Institute. The doctor said it was related to the viral infection and caused an immune disorder. I was just as nervous as all new moms!

The second common reason is that children come into contact with allergens, such as after eating peanuts, milk, shellfish and other foods; acidic fruits that are prone to allergies come into contact with the skin, such as strawberries and mangoes; contact with animal hair, dust mites, insect bites, or taking certain medications, which can also cause urticaria symptoms.

Treatment and prevention

Although it is not very dangerous, the skin will be itchy and children can easily scratch their skin, causing more serious consequences. Mothers can learn some simple care methods to alleviate the symptoms of urticaria in children.

When a child develops urticaria, you can apply calamine lotion to the rash area and then apply a cold towel for cold compress. If conditions permit, you can use a cold towel soaked in saline solution for cold compress, which will be more effective. When the rash is severe, you can take cetirizine hydrochloride drops orally (prescription drug, take as directed by your doctor).

If the child also has wheezing or difficulty swallowing, it means that the child's allergy is serious and the child needs to be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately.

Of course, the fundamental prevention and treatment method for urticaria is to determine the specific cause of urticaria. If the rash is limited to a certain area, it is likely caused by contact with external allergens. If the rash is all over the body, it may be caused by eating allergic foods or drugs. Only by identifying the allergens can we effectively avoid them and prevent urticaria from occurring again due to the same reason.

At the same time, keep the household clean and wash and change bedding frequently.

Babies with allergies don't need to worry. They should be careful to avoid allergens. They can take probiotic products containing anti-allergic strains to relieve allergies by regulating intestinal flora. This is a popular natural therapy. The most studied is Lactobacillus rhamnosus. If the allergy is serious, seek medical attention in time and cooperate with the doctor's treatment. Alleviating allergy problems is a long process that requires active treatment, attention to prevention, and detailed records of diet and environmental exposure.
