Shingles blisters getting bigger

Shingles blisters getting bigger

Shingles is highly contagious and causes blisters that are unsightly and uncomfortable. Herpes zoster is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which remains latent in the body and recurs, causing clusters of blisters arranged in a band-like pattern along the skin areas innervated by the nerves, accompanied by neuralgia. Due to the intense pain, some patients may experience emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression. So why do shingles blisters get bigger and bigger?

1. Shingles is an acute inflammatory skin disease caused by varicella-zoster virus. After recovery, the patient can obtain more lasting immunity, so it generally will not recur.

2. If the blisters become bigger now, it is not a good sign. You can continue to take acyclovir tablets orally. If it hurts, you can take some Du Yiwei. Apply active iodine externally. Use several cotton swabs or gauze dipped in active iodine to apply to the affected area. Avoid eating spicy and irritating foods such as lamb, fish, onion, ginger, garlic, chili, vinegar, etc.

3. After getting shingles, 1 to 3 days later, bean-sized, highly tense papules and blisters will appear on the skin of the affected area. They are distributed along the nerves, arranged in clusters and in the shape of strips. The main symptoms of this disease are general fatigue, loss of appetite, mild fever, and soon a burning sensation, throbbing pain or itching in the affected area. In mild cases, there may be no pain, but there may be itching, or only erythema without obvious blisters; in severe cases, there is obvious pain and restlessness. After a few days, the clear and transparent blisters turn into turbid pustules, and some may rupture and form erosions. Elderly patients often experience severe pain that affects their sleep. If treatment is not timely or inappropriate, pain will remain after the skin lesions subside. Entering the post-herpetic period, leaving recurring nerve pain. The most feared consequence of herpes zoster is if it is not treated properly.
