How to treat osteonecrosis

How to treat osteonecrosis

We humans can walk, run, stand, lie down and move in various postures because we have many bones supporting us. Bones are like various parts of a machine. With their existence, we can perform various movements flexibly. As we age, our bones will also have some problems, such as osteonecrosis. Osteonecrosis will restrict our behavior in many ways. How should osteonecrosis be treated?

Osteonecrosis is one of the diseases, and the so-called osteonecrosis refers to the necrosis of the living tissue components of the human skeleton. Traditional Chinese medicine calls bone necrosis bone erosion. Bone necrosis can occur in many parts of the human body. There are many causes of bone necrosis. In clinical practice, femoral head necrosis is the most common. Most of the articles focus on introducing the causes, symptoms, treatments, exercises and prevention of femoral head necrosis. As for bone necrosis, it can occur in any part of the human body. More than 40 cases of ischemic necrosis have been found, and the incidence of femoral head necrosis is the highest, which is mainly determined by the characteristics of biomechanics and anatomy. Because the femoral head is the terminal blood vessel, there are 20 to 25 fan-shaped blood vessels, forming an arteriovenous ring at the junction of the head and neck, which originate from the internal and external femoral circumflex arteries.

Femoral head necrosis has a slow onset and a long course, and the patient has no obvious symptoms for a long time. The most common clinical symptom is hip discomfort or pain, which is more obvious after fatigue or long-term walking and is relieved after rest. During the course of femoral head necrosis, pain in the lumbar sacral region or knee joints often occurs, which can be easily misdiagnosed as lumbar disc herniation, spinal stenosis, sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis, synovitis, etc. The most prominent feature of this disease is the severity of subjective symptoms and

The degree of bone necrosis destruction is not proportional, so patients should pay special attention. As lameness and pain worsen, hip joint function is gradually limited, and in the late stage the hip joint may become stiff and cause disability.

Clinically, it is divided into definite causes and possible causes. Certain etiologies are those in which some etiologies are clear and accepted by clinical orthopedic physicians, including the following:

trauma

Femoral head necrosis is prone to occur in cases of femoral neck fracture, sprain, fall, hip dislocation, and acetabular dysplasia. It is generally believed that most cases occur 1 to 5 years after the fracture, and can occur as early as 2 to 3 months after the injury. The incidence rate is generally 75% to 95%. Bone necrosis can occur in most cases after fracture surgery. Hip injuries (including hip dislocation, femoral neck fracture, trochanteric fracture, etc.) directly affect the local blood supply, especially the insufficient blood supply to the femoral head, leading to femoral head necrosis. The necrosis rate of hip dislocation combined with fracture is as high as 90%. If a fracture dislocation is not reduced for more than 24 hours, the femoral head will 100% become necrotic.

Hormonal drugs

Long-term and excessive use of adrenal corticosteroids (such as prednisone, dexamethasone, etc.) can cause osteoporosis, arterial blockage, and gradual necrosis of bone cells and bone marrow cells.

Rheumatism

It usually occurs in areas with cold and humid climates. It is common in my country, less common in South China, and gradually increasing towards the north. It is often combined with ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis.
