Sparse teeth have an important impact on physical health. Some people are born with good teeth and can eat hard things. Some people just can't. Bad teeth are related to genetics, but more often they are acquired.

Acquired factors refer to the influences on the growth and development process after birth.

(1) Disease: Certain acute infectious diseases and certain chronic wasting diseases may affect the development of teeth and jaws. Endocrine dysfunction or malnutrition, especially vitamin deficiency, may affect the development of teeth and jaws. (2) Abnormal breathing and swallowing functions may affect the development of teeth and jaws.

(3) Bad habits such as biting fingers, biting upper lip or lower lip, sticking out tongue or tongue sticking out tongue.

(4) Problems that arise during the period of primary teeth or replacement teeth. The causes of uneven teeth include premature loss of deciduous teeth, delayed loss of deciduous teeth, premature loss of permanent teeth, and disordered eruption order of permanent teeth. Regarding how to correct sparse teeth, experts point out that sparse teeth are a type of dental deformity and there are many ways to correct it. Children's teeth are in the growth and development stage, so traditional orthodontic methods are very effective. However, for adults, the effect is not very good, and cosmetic crowns are usually needed for repair.

How to correct sparse teeth?

Traditional methods of restoring sparse teeth include orthodontics, dentures, or restoration with light-cured composite resins or veneers. It can also be restored through surgical orthodontics. For patients with neat teeth, normal occlusion and small tooth gaps, light-cured composite resin can be used to enlarge the adjacent surfaces of the crowns on both sides of the gap to achieve the purpose of closing the gap. For those with periodontal disease, the periodontal disease should be treated first, and orthodontics should be used to assist in closing the gap. If the gap is large, it is not suitable to use light-cured composite resin for cosmetic restoration. It can be restored with dentures after orthodontic surgery to close the anterior space.
