Sinus bradycardia

Sinus bradycardia

Sinus bradycardia often causes headaches, dizziness or physical fatigue due to insufficient blood supply. Dizziness and blurred vision often occur, and you may faint if you are not careful. You may also suffer from headaches and insomnia when sleeping. When the heart rate is less than 60 beats per minute, it is considered sinus bradycardia. In this case, you should not do strenuous exercise. When you have nothing to do, go out for a walk and breathe fresh air.

Sinus bradycardia is an important type of arrhythmia. Common symptoms include dizziness, fatigue, listlessness, transient black eyes, weakness, palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and sometimes a feeling of impact in the precordial area. In severe cases, syncope may occur. Below, the editor will tell you about sinus bradycardia. If you want to know more, you can come in and take a look.

What is sinus bradycardia

A sinus rhythm slower than 60 beats per minute is called sinus bradycardia. It may occur in healthy adults, especially athletes, the elderly, and during sleep. Other causes include increased intracranial pressure, hyperkalemia, hypothyroidism, hypothermia, and the use of drugs such as digitalis, beta-blockers, reserpine, guanethidine, and methyldopa. In organic heart disease, sinus bradycardia may be seen.

Sinus bradycardia varies in severity and may occur intermittently. Most of the symptoms are insufficient blood supply to the heart, brain, kidneys and other organs due to a slow heart rate. In mild cases, patients may experience fatigue, dizziness, poor memory, slow reaction, etc. In severe cases, patients may experience blackouts, syncope, or Asperger's syndrome. In some severe patients, in addition to palpitations, the disease may also aggravate existing heart disease symptoms and cause heart failure or angina pectoris. Too low cardiac output seriously affects the perfusion of organs such as the kidneys, and can also cause oliguria, etc.

Causes of Sinus Bradycardia

1. Vagus nerve excitement

Most of them act through neural (mainly vagus nerve excitation), humoral mechanisms through extracardiac nerves, or directly act on the sinoatrial node to cause sinus bradycardia.

2. Impaired sinus node function

Refers to sinus bradycardia caused by damage to the sinoatrial node (such as inflammation, ischemia, poisoning or degenerative damage, etc.). In addition, it can be seen in myocardial damage such as myocarditis, pericarditis, myocardial sclerosis, etc. It may also be caused by transient sinus node inflammation, ischemia and toxic damage.

3. Acute myocardial infarction

The incidence of sinus bradycardia is 20% to 40%, with the highest incidence in the early stages of acute myocardial infarction (especially inferior wall infarction).

4. Extracardiac factors

Sinus bradycardia caused by extracardiac factors is mostly accompanied by vagal hyperactivity, is neurological, and the heart rate is not very stable. When the autonomic nervous tone changes, such as after deep breathing, exercise, and atropine injection, the heart rate often changes and the PR interval may be slightly prolonged.
