What to do if your child has herpes in the throat

Children have herpes in their throat, which is a common symptom. Medically, it is called herpetic pharyngitis, which is an acute infectious disease. When the disease occurs, patients will show various symptoms, such as sore throat, anorexia, fever, vomiting, convulsions and other symptoms. It is necessary to receive good treatment in time, maintain oral hygiene, and use some medicines under the guidance of a doctor, such as Qingkailing, Yanbian Granules, etc.

What to do if your child has herpes in the throat

Ways to reduce discomfort are:

Pay attention to oral hygiene and keep your mouth clean. You can gargle with light salt water, apply 10% silver nitrate to the ulcer, or blow throat pills, Bingpengsan, etc. into the throat to relieve sore throat symptoms. Take vitamin C and B orally. Antibiotics are not effective for viral pharyngitis. However, if fever occurs, antibiotics should be given to control secondary bacterial infection.

Recommended reference medication:

Ribavirin, Nimesuzin, Ke Lao, Qing Kai Ling, and Yan Bian granules are antibiotics, antipyretics, analgesics, and throat clearing drugs.

Infants and young children aged seven, eight and nine months are at high risk of diseases. Among them, herpangina is the most common disease in children. It is caused by a viral infection and the onset is very acute. A child may be having fun the day before but may have a high fever and herpes in the throat the next day. Children usually suffer from high fever, sore throat, drooling, anorexia, vomiting, pharyngeal congestion, and several to dozens of 2-4 mm gray-white blisters surrounded by red halos. Generally, after one or two days, the herpes will begin to break into small ulcers, which will make the child feel very uncomfortable.

Doctor's reminder:

Herpetic pharyngitis is not a rare disease. It can usually be cured after one week of medication. Parents should pay attention to maintaining their children's personal and indoor hygiene, and try not to take their children to noisy public places. But parents must be aware that this disease has an acute onset and the child's body temperature rises rapidly after becoming ill, which can easily lead to high fever convulsions.

If the child has convulsions, parents can pinch the child's Ren Zhong point and keep calling the child's name while quickly rushing the child to the hospital. At the same time, parents should prevent the child from biting his tongue during convulsions. The posture of holding a child must be correct: first, loosen the child's collar and let the head tilt to one side. This will ensure that the child can breathe smoothly. Never hold the child with your head tilted back, which will affect the child's breathing.
