Is it okay for children to sleep with the elderly?

For parents, if they are busy with work, they often leave their children with the elderly and let them take care of the children. In fact, letting the elderly take care of the children has certain negative effects, especially when the children and the elderly sleep together. This can easily lead to poor sleep quality for the baby and may affect the baby's development. In addition, the elderly have poorer physical constitution and are easily affected by some diseases, which will also have an adverse effect on the baby.

Is it okay for children to sleep with the elderly?

1. Poor sleep quality affects baby's development

Children's sleep is very easily disturbed. Even slight tossing and turning in bed or coughing can affect their sleep. The elderly are often overly concerned about their children and always touch their heads or backs at night to see if they are hot or cold. This kind of concern sometimes directly interferes with children's sleep.

2. Babies are more susceptible to infectious diseases

Children's immune systems are still developing, and their resistance to many pathogens and mycoplasmas is far less than that of adults. Adults move around in a wide range during the day and are exposed to a more complex environment. Even though they do not show any symptoms, they may be carriers of certain pathogens.

The elderly are more susceptible to infections because they have weaker immunity. Therefore, during the peak period of certain epidemic diseases, when the elderly sleep with children, it is easier for them to transmit the germs to the babies, causing them to become sick.

3. It is not conducive to cultivating children's independence

Grandparents love their children and sleep in the same bed with them, so they will inevitably help their children with all the chores, big and small, such as dressing them, folding quilts, making the beds, and waking them up.

In comparison, children who can sleep alone in a crib have more independent space and are relatively less dependent on their grandparents.

4. Affect the sleep and health of the elderly

To be honest, I can't bear to let the elderly sleep with the children at night.

Helping to take care of the children during the day is tiring enough, and at night you have to get up several times to serve them, which not only affects their sleep, but also their energy and health.

The elderly work hard to raise children, and we should be grateful. Choosing to let children not sleep with the elderly does not mean that we are ungrateful, but rather it reduces the burden on the elderly and is for the healthy growth of children.
